Seams when printing with nylon

Hey everyone.

I am printing a cylindrical object use nylon PA6-12 blend, no fiber reinforcement.
I’ve gotten all the setting dialed in and prints are coming out great with the exceptions of seams. No matter what I try I get big seams.

Using scarf joint makes the problem worse. Mostly I’ve experimented with retraction length and speed with no noticeable improvement. Same with print temp.

I haven’t iterated through all the settings under Quality-Seam yet but before I try a billion permutations, I’m hoping someone here has been through this and found a fix. Moving from aligned to random placement is no help, it just gives the part giant zits instead of a huge scar. This is a mechanical part and I need to get closer to design intent. Thanks for any help. BTW I have no problem with seams printing with anything other than Nylon and Ive tried five different brands of non-fiber nylon. All the same results.

Hi. Did you ever figure this out? I’m printing with Atomic Filament CF Nylon (Nuclear Nylon), and seeing issues with the seams. Basically wherever there is a seam, the nylon gets clumpy in that spot. I’m using aligned at the moment for the seam position, but also about to give the scarf joint feature a try.

Try a random seam , which splits the seam lines to individual layers around the print ,it can still be a little clumpy but better than a whole line , setting in studio
