Search is broken

First: I genuinely tried to help and took extra time to point you toward the models you were looking for. I didn’t have to do that, but I wanted to help you. :+1:

Second: Did you check the prompts I shared? You’re not using the tag search.

Third: For me, this topic is settled. It was never about questioning your skills - my intention was simply to help. It feels like my support is being interpreted as if I were implying you’re not competent, and that’s not what I meant at all.

Let me clarify things a bit: If these models aren’t available on MakerWorld, then there’s nothing MakerWorld can do about it. It’s not a magic machine that can fulfill every wish. Sometimes you simply have to accept that your favorite characters from very niche or little‑known game just won’t be uploaded to MakerWorld.

This might shatter your worldview, but I guess nobody likes the character enough to go to the trouble of modding it and uploading it to MakerWorld - for free - and tag them. You might think these are popular characters - and that may be true - but not in the context of 3D printing; they don’t play any role at all.

  • It’s like walking into a butcher shop and asking for vegetables.

Nevertheless, to show you that I’m still here to help: Try out some of these tools from MakerWorld and use images to generate a model yourself / by AI:

Nevertheless, going forward - and I mean this respectfully - I will ignore your posts from now on. I’ve now explicitly added you to the ignore list. :+1:

okay? If that’s what you need to do, have fun? I never mentioned the popularity of the character, I have no clue how that’s relevant to the situation.

Did I do something wrong? I genuinely do not understand, I just asked how to turn off the fuzzysearch, he didnt explain how to search by tag very clearly? He just told me stuff I was searching for wasnt popular? I know that’s why I’m using the search? I literally just wanted to know how to search without the fuzzysearch why was that offensive I used pictures to show the issue I was having why was he talking to me like that

Why am I bad for asking people to explain things to me like an equal and not like a teacher having to explain something to an exceptionally dumb child?

You are making a crucial mistake in how you are searching.

This is the difference…

When you are specific with tags, you get a specific answer.

Over 1000 results vs 4. See the difference?

What are you talking about?

The popularity of a character is the most important factor. You are searching niche things and asking for the world.

Lets see a well known character… The Vault Boy

Over 1000 results and all of them are pretty much spot on.

But to get back to the original topic, this is not a fuzzy search issue.

That is how the algorithm works. It wants to show you as many results as possible.

If it doesnt have what you are looking for it makes stuff up.

If you want better search results, sometimes the best thing to do is search through google instead. Especially for these niche things, dont limit your search to only MW.

If you want to search by tag, all you have to do is put “tag:” in front of what you want. I feel like that was very clear in what Retro was saying.

No one is talking down to you, until you blow off the point of the person that is trying to help you.

can people please stop reacting with thumbs down on all my posts? I get that i’m not great at explaining or understanding stuff, I literally just don’t do well with a wall of text instead of a five word answer. I know i’m stupid, you don’t have to rub it in

It seems logical that if you’re searching for a very specific thing, you should employ a very specific search.

You can deactivate fuzzy search simply by utilizing an advanced search, such as putting certain terms in quotes, or using tags.

For example:

THANK you that’s what I was asking, I needed to understand what the difference was between the searches. I am not an intelligent man when it comes to specific details.

Is the algorithm something that can be avoided, or is it just like permanent? I just want a way to search by exact terms. I’m not trying to blow people off, it just gets frustrating when someone sends me a wall of text criticizing how niche my interests are instead of just focusing on the issue.

oh it allows quotes/exact search on your end? I tried that but… Oh! I did not consider that perhaps it doesn’t work with a space between words… Thank you so much.

Some of what I’m about to say is a repetition of what has already been said.

I’d also like to add this here - it’s not directed to any specific user, but just to make this point very clear:

  • Sorted by "Relevance” means: AI makes suggestions, including words that sound similar. It’s like saying: “AI does the thinking for me!” If someone doesn’t like the results, they shouldn’t use the AI search.

  • In between, there’s is “Trending,” which is a mix

  • All other categories do not use MakerWorld AI search.

  • If want specific results, use => tag: search term - or CarbonForge’s suggestion
