Search is broken

For instance:
Search for “Whistle” under “New Uploads” and you’ll find a lot of items of which only very few are actually whistles.

This is caused by fuzzy term matching. It can help correct input errors (such as “chirstmas”, “holloween”), but it can also introduce some unintended additional models.

We are optimizing this case. If everything goes well, the issue will be solved in the next update.

Yeah, pretty fuzzy …

Unfortunately, in many cases it makes the search pretty useless.
Could you perhaps implement a quick workaround, e.g. turn off fuzzy mode if the search term is enclosed in quotation marks?

By the way – when you search for “Whistle” under “New Uploads” there are 4 whistles in the first 50 entries. This means that more than 90% of the results do not match.

I’ve checked some of the unmatching entries and suspect that “white” in the keywords triggers the selection. “Whistle” to “white” is a pretty big fuzzy range.

Agreed. I rather do two or three searches with smaller result sets to pinpoint what I need rather than wading through a large set of irrelevant results. If anything, you could return exact matches first and then have another section below that says something like, “These results may also be of interest to you…”, where the fuzzy results are returned.

Oh totally, also tags are way too fuzzy. I accidently printed wrong poop catcher. In fact I dont think there was a single one for A1 on the first page of search results (with A1 as tag).

We will have a quick fix for this fuzzy mode next week.

Great, thanks!

If you are still searching, you could try my Poop Deflector

We are going to replace the fuzzy search with “Search instead”.

If everything goes well, it will be included in the update about 3 weeks later.

So 3 more weeks with an almost useless search function?
If new members can’t find the design they want among hundreds of mismatched listings, they may permanently switch to another platform…

In the short term, isn’t it possible to simply deactivate the fuzzy option until the final change is released?

Okay. We may disable the fuzzy option first.

The fuzzy search is disabled for now.

Thank you so much. The hero as usual.
