I bought the R1, and it is big! I need to buy a workbench that is deeper, as my 24" tables in my garage won’t cut it. Has anyone found a sturdy workbench that fits the R1 that they would suggest? Is rock-solid sturdiness really important? I own a bunch of 3D printers, but this is my first laser cutter.
What’s available locally might be worth checking out and that varies.
In general, CO2 laser, a solid one to support the weight and inertia from toolhead fast movements, sturdy enough that you can move the table with the machine on top without the legs bending, but it doesn’t need to be absolutely ROCK solid. The toolhead moves much slower and doesn’t shake violently like FDM printers. Even sheet metal legs with some well placed bracings can be enough.
