Hello,
What exactly is the Prime Tower good for?
Would you say that you must always have it activated when you print in multiple colors?
I’ve tried it a few times now and I don’t quite see the point of the Prime Tower.
Thank you

It only reduces how much waste goes into the catcher.
You’re talking about the leftover (waste) that comes out when the filament is changed, right?
But isn’t it good if the leftovers go into the 3D object?
That saves material, doesn’t it?
Or without Prime Tower, is there a risk that the print will be messy on the outer edges of the object?
If I see it correctly, the Prime Tower is only interesting for transparent outer walls, isn’t it?
A prime tower is an additional print that’s created on the build plate to help prepare the nozzle before printing the next layer. It reduces oozing, under extrusion and enhances overall printing quality. The prime tower has a few settings that can be adjusted.

Do any of the Makerbot printers have a poop chute like on the Bambu printers? Without a poop chute, a prime tower is needed. But I don’t see a need for it on the Bambu printers. I have printed several multi-material prints with and with out the purge tower. I see no differences.
No idea on that one. Being a newbie, I just assumed a purge/prime tower was needed. Not sure I even knew it was optional.
That makes sence. Maybe the prime tower is an old “tool” for older printers, that doesn’t have a hole for the waste.
When I’m printing something that takes most of the day, I always activate the Prime Tower because I’m afraid that without it, any leftovers will be pulled along and end up causing the print to fail.
You could use one or the other. I stopped using the prime tower and based on fecal examination, adjusted the flushing volumes down and flushed into support and infill.
Still a horrific increase in time doing multi color prints.
Maybe a CMYK printer in the future?
it would be great to have add-on for CMYK in the near future for p1p and x1c.
Even they have to make a new one cost less than USD$2k, I’m getting one, because its still 10x cheaper than what’s on the market.
Got my printer few days ago… I hope they have bigger bed size in the future too, 25cm become more like 20cm after all the tower and tests.
It looks like the prime tower can be useful even on Bambu printers if you also choose the “purge to infill” option. That way, if your print has infills, instead of the purges being wasted, they go to the interior of your print…it could also speed up your printing. The downside is if you’re printing with clear filament, you could see the purged filament inside.
The prime tower is for priming the nozzle. Not for pooping waste. 2 totally different purposes. Adjust the poop, not the prime.
