hi I saw that there is the sensor door but how does it work on the x1c printer?
Great question.
I don’t think it’s configured to do anything yet. Since the early days of Kickstarter units it has been known to exist and not be implemented, and I think that is still the case unfortunately.
We’re either waiting for an update from Bambu Lab for this, or I missed the memo and someone else knows a way to get it working.
It physically makes electrical contact when the door’s shut.
That’s the extent of it. Despite being an advertised feature of the X1 series, it’s never done anything.
Some early reviews said that the printer will pause if the door is open while printing because of the speeds it is moving at. I find this idea plausible as the quick movement is definitely scary and getting your limb in there while printing will be very painful if not to some extent destructive. But, in reality, you sometimes want to reach in there and remove that ooze or a detached calibration line and pausing the print in random spot with filament oozing and the nozzle making a hole in your print is not practical
There’s 2 other connectors on the same board the Door Dect switch is connected to. Any idea’s what these were intended for? I would like to repurpose the door switch to control my BentoBox air scrubber.
“X_LIM” and “Y_LIM” would be limit switches for the X and Y axes. Which aren’t really necessary anyway. So I could see them being deleted for cost reasons.
