Separated categories for actual 3D models, coasters, lamps

I’d really love to have clearly separated sections for actual 3D models and anything that really result just 2D print: hueforge models, lamps with flat faces, coasters and anything else that is printed as a falt surface.
Whenever I look for something, my searches are overcrowded with what I categorize as 2D prints like those I listed above. It’s getting harder and harder to find actual 3D models amidst all that stuff.
Also I feel like my models get lost and are harder to find for other users because of that.
I understand that for some people they might be appealing and I understand that a lot of creators use them to easily increase their downloads (= points) with such easy models. I’m not asking to delete them from MakerWorld, only to keep them separated from actual 3D models, like statues, miniatures and such.
That would make life easier for whoever is looking for 3D models but also for those who want a lamp, a coaster, …
(you can clearly see that the situation is not this bad on other STL websites like Printables and Thingiverse, because they don’t give out points this easily, so creators upload more interesting stuff)

I’ve requested before, and would request again, a way to mute certain users from search results and browsing. I don’t think there’s a way to just blanket block things as such. You can block categories, and tags, but that’ll only get you so far.

I’ve had issues before though searching up certain keywords and just getting flooded with what you described. It can be frustrating because a lot of that work gets put up in bulk, so if you’re trying to find something that shares a keyword, it can be frustrating at best.

I feel ya. I could bang out a hundred coasters, lightboxes, hueforges and such in a day if I wanted to but that would be boring and tedious work. I have more fun getting inspired with an idea and making it happen. It’s hard to get momentum and get noticed out there but keep designing and generating great ideas and you will get noticed. Makerworld tries to help by highlighting contest winners, having featured models and designers, and providing ways to search by trending, likes, downloads, etc. to weed out the…weeds. When you create a new model, spend just as much time in presentation to help you stand out from the rest.

exactly, the methods we have now are of no use and I might not even want to block some users cos they could have mixed content with some things I might even like.

completely on point.
I’m sure there are people interested in those coaster, lightboxes and such, and they surely might be interesting. heck, I might even be interested in one or two.
but some users are clearly exploiting the system in order to get more points…
your suggestion about presentation is so right. I understood that with time. I also started taking more pride in what I provide to other users, trying to give them the best profile and information possible for them to print my models.
you mentioned the contests… that’s another sore topic for me… when I see what some people upload to take part in any of those, they really get on my nerves. some don’t even try to stay among the limits of the topic…
I’m just glad BL usually choose some good ones that actually deserve to win

thank you for giving attention to this suggestion

There’s hardly any use blocking categories as a portion of people have a hard time seeing their models in the right one for starters. 3d print category for example has a boat and a cat model in the top 10.

I was actually hoping for something different from the current categories, but actually clearly separated sections.
I actually find those categories quite useless right now.
my idea would be for a simple distinction: it’s an actual 3D model or is it something “flat” like a litohoanie, lightbox, coaster, …
I only want to be able to have a clear distinction between 3D models and everything else.
take this fro example:

why?! waht’s the use? AT LEAST raise the borders or some feature or make it so it has some colors on different levels to give it a bit of depth…

Agree, the base list is pretty vague.
