Shouldn't layer height be in the filament spec?

Am I missing something??? It seems to me that layer height is related to filament type. I want a little larger first layer filament height for PLA, but as it is now, I have to update the “Quality” setting for every new PLA project.

Should I be doing something different or is having layer height in the filament spec a valid request?

In my experience, it is mainly related to nozzle diameter rather than filament type.

I think this is what you are wanting to do. You have to click on the floppy icon ( save current process ) and save a user preset for your custom pla settings you can name it what you want.

Sample:

It has nothing todo with filament it is a machine configuration which is based on the machines parts. Nozzle size usually defines the hight min and max and the minimum hieght has a second value which is thread definition that also contributes to the layer hight Minimum

Not sure I agree. I have been printing a lot with SunLu ABS,. PLA & PETG.
Prints have been great.
I just got some SunLu PLA (Transparent Blue). Now I am having trouble with first layer adhesion. The first thing many people try is increase first layer height.
I would think that alo0ng with nozzle temp, that first layer height would be filament specific. But I am by not means an expert…I am still struggling with first layer problems with this particular color of PLA

OK…you just taught me something new…
I did not really realize how to use the pre-sets.
So I think I want to use them to “Tweak” the filament settings for unique filaments.

Is that correct??

For 1st layer adhesion, and assuming all basic items like plate cleaning, glue and filament drying are taken care of, you may want to play with first layer bed temperature in your filament settings first.
Works like a dream for me. Especially on the textured PEI.

Yes make your own process settings some filaments need custom settings to be happy.

Some pla like 60c on bed plates if you have not tested it in that range already.
