Hello, ive been using cc3d silk with no issues once i figured out settings. I have a project to making spartan helmets, looking to have them as shiny silver as possible. I havent tried any other silk filaments really, any recommendations to try to make sure there is nothing better (shinier) i could use other than the cc3d?
Thanks
CC3D silk PLA is a good option for shiny prints. Make sure to really dial in your print settings like temperature, speed, retraction… to get the smoothest finish possible. Also you can post-process the print with filler primer, sanding, and polishing.
Proto-pasta Metallic PLA can give a nice chrome-like shineor but tend to be higher on price. Silver or Galaxy Silver filaments from Polymaker Polysilk could work well. Or silk PLA from Sunlu that I have tried is suitable, too.
Plus: Gold silk could look nice for a Spartan helmet.
would you mind sharing your settings you figured out for CC3D silk?
I just started using CC3D, and their silk is gorgeous. But you mentioned that you figured out some settings. Would you mind sharing those with the rest of the class? hehe ![]()
Thanks!
WZLFW, mjsoltis, could you guys share your printer settings for CC3D silk filament? I’m using mostly the eSun and Sunlu filaments (all their filament range), but reading your comments on CC3D silk filament made me curious and would like to give it a shot, perhaps it could turn out to be what I’m looking for. By sharing your settings you would help not only me, but also many others like me, to save time and a lot of filament that otherwise would be lost trying to figure out on our own the best print settings.
