I often get a message like this. I ignore it because the designers have done a great job and I am unsure if I choose to simplify the print will it ruin some part of the design?
Will it save me time? What are the benefits and what are the risks?
PS>>> Please ignore the activate windows in the background… I am not paying again for another license when all I did was transfer everything into a new hard drive in a new computer… Waiting to get Linux instead and but like all new things and new changes I procrastinate.

I can’t imagine any CAD file being saved as a 3mf (for 3d printing) having that many triangles unless it started out as an imported 3d mesh, meaning whoever uploaded the file and modified the file using an import mesh function starting from a blank slate design to begin with.
That’s usually where that error would come from. Someone trying to load the original CAD file they don’t have by importing it as a mesh and then trying to simplify it back to the model it was supposed to be. I could be completely wrong, obviously.. But that’s the only way that makes sense to me for a 3d print file.

Simplify will alter the geometry. Not much, ideally imperceptibly, but it does do that, as it deletes triangles. Import a Sphere, and simplify it with the sliders to see what it does at what extremes.
As long as your pc can still slice the file, I wouldn’t simplify.

Thanks for the replies so far.
I just downloaded it directly from MarkerWorld. I often read about people saying the print didn’t work and the designer asking if they used their files unaltered so I just don’t alter anything until I have printed it once.
I am very much a novice and am curious about what simplifying does.
I have downloaded a sphere and will have a look at what it does.. thanks
