Skirt minimum length

Prusa slicer has option to minimum length in mm of the skirt to print.
I use skirt as PURGE. Nozzle is ALWAYS dry at the start of the print or it will ALWAYS ooze on the way to the starting point. Skirt fixes this problem by minimizing the distance to the start print after the purge.
So…If part is small, skirt is also very short, but i need to be able to extrude at least 10mm of filament before starting the print. That way nozzle is not dry and also does not ooze anything either.

i’ve been printing for 10+ years, there is no other solution to this problem no matter what.

Printing more loops is not an option because if part is large, its a waste of time and filament.
Need to extrude 10mm of filament or what ever works for you.
For me, 5-10mm would be nice.
Or maybe there is a way to print a line right next to the print starting point so skirt is not required ?
That line has to end 2mm away from the part print starting point. That would be the best solution that no one has implemented.

By default, this is done by printing a straight line at the front of the printer.
How ever, part is far away from that point and by the time nozzle will reach the starting point, it will ooze and cause problems.
Skirt is 2mm away from the starting point. There is no better solution in the world. Absolutely none.

Where is the option to change skirt length instead of loops ?

What printer and filaments are you using?
It’s bad that you get oozing if the head has to travel more than 2mm.
I was going to suggest just using a Brim and then in the preview you can then see how much filament the Brim uses, then alter it to your needs.

There is currently no option to set the minimum skirt length. But it is quite apparent in the preview (grid pitch is 10mm).

What I did below was to add a Brim.
The Brim Width initially came up as 5mm but the filament usage was 0.05m.
I changed the Brim Width to 1mm and this reduced the filament usage to 0.01m (10mm)

Cant use BRIM. I need to extrude the skirt so small prints dont run dry.
If i print 10x10 cube, skirt does not get printed because there is no filament inside the nozzle yet.
Only when cube starts to print, about half way on the 1st layer filament starts to come out.

The option for “minimum extrusion length” must be there.
If you print large object, there is no need to print entire skirt since its too large. Instead just print the minimum extrusion length and be happy but no. China decided its not needed.

Eleven months later, we still do not know:

Fix the cause of the ooze and you will not need a skirt at all. It must be very limiting to only print models with less than 2 mm of travel.
