I have just recently received my X1C and have printed a few objects from the Makerworld site. But, today I drew a simple box that is 208mm x 115mm x 31.9mm with rounded corners. I did this in AutoCAD 2025 3D, exported as an STL File. When I bring it into Bambu Studio, on the “prepare” tab it looks normal. when go to preview tab, it’s only the base where the curves end, it doesn’t print the walls of the box. My walls all around are 0.4mm thick. Is this too thin for the printer to handle so it just ignores the walls? Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Without understanding the geometry of your part, you may well be hitting on some slicer boundary issues. The simplest test is to go back into CAD and redraft the walls to a higher thickness. Or better yet, draft some test models of varying wall dimensions and then try printing them. This will give you invaluable experience so that you can get the feel of what your printer is truly capable of.
Another suggestion. Try exporting in STEP. There is more precision in STEP files as when you export the to an STL, the mesh is generated by AutoCAD. When you export in STEP, the mesh conversion is performed by the slicer.
Thank you for the suggestions. I don’t have AutoCAD Mechanical so I can’t export STEP. I guess, I could look at another software program that does have that feature. I will make the smaller thicker test models to see where the limitations are. I really do appreciate the feedback.
I experimented with a re-creation of your model in Fusion, exported as STEP, and it also sliced without the walls.
The entire model did slice after changing Wall Generator from Classic to Arachne.
Noting that default line widths with a 0.4 nozzle are 0.42 mm, I tried changing line width thickness to 0.40 with the Classic wall generator, which did not work.
I went back to the default 0.42 line widths in Studio and the Classic generator, but thickened the model walls to 0.42mm, which also sliced completely.
Thank you. Once I read your reply, I changed the wall thicknesses to 1.0mm just to make sure and everything printed beautifully. Thank you for all the assistance.
