Slicer not following model?

Can anyone tell me what is going on here? Look at the railing, it should be “wood” but just slices as “lines”. I’ve never seen this happen before. Thanks!!

What you’re seeing is how the printer will make that railing at that current angle. A small but long angle will display steps as it continues in height and distance away from the layer below it. Just like how the Benchy looks like when it does the railing.

A way to combat this is to make the layer height smaller, or increase the angle.

Yep, you are totally right. It was such an odd angle/model to have it so prominent like that. I’ll do variable layer height for those areas and reduce the effect a bit. A bit of post print work will probably be needed to make it look a bit better.

Very nice! Yeah just to note that what you’re seeing in the Preview tab of the slicer is just how the print head is going to push out the filament. It does not show how “squished” the filament will become or how it’ll look if ironed.
