Slicer or printer

On printing:
ABS using generic ABS settings @100% speed with no other changes.

There’s a gap between the wall and the infill but not the surface layers.

This is pretty consistent in terms of it’s width.
Current version of printer firmaware and slicer being used, possibly the problem is in that somewhere.
Functionally the parts are OK and usable but it would ne nicer not to have this happening.
Is this slicer or printer?

I’m guessing by “Basic ABS” you’re using the factory default filament settings. You might be interested to know that, aside from generic PLA and possibly the new PETG-HF, Bambu filament profiles are not very accurate. They probably were when the product was first released, but there’s growing evidence that when they changed suppliers earlier this year, the formula changed as well, and the filament settings needed to be re-tuned. However, Bambu has yet to admit they changed suppliers or processes and also haven’t cleaned up their filament profiles, leaving this community to fumble around here. Check out the recent posts about the masking tape added to the end of the reel, causing AMS users trouble, and the issues with customers who bought white PLA, only for the color to change midway through a bulk purchase. Not great when you’re running a business—there’s white, and oh!!! there’s “the other white.” :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The bottom line is you’ll want to manually calibrate your filament. The best tool for that, if you’re not already using it, is Orca Slicer. There’s no downside to having both slicers on your system, and you’ll quickly find a lot more quality-of-life improvements in that version compared to the original Bambu Studio, not just the calibration utilities.

Here’s two videos I usually recommend on how to best use Orca for Calibration.
Basic Calibration

Advanced Calibration

Sighhh!!! Yes, I know but how many newbies come here every day asking the same question in one form or another? You and I who visit the forum frequently already know this but a newbie has to learn it at some point. Remember what it was like to be a Newbie? :yum:

One could also say that the same is true with filament drying. I almost want to make a post that I save and just copy and paste. Even if the mods were to pin that post, how many would actually read it in this era of social media-induced global ADHD?

Sorry man, This is my reply now for wet filament. Usually I’ll reply with that but I’m way distracted.

Apologies.

Why apologize? I didn’t see it as an offensive remark and it was appropriate to the topic.

Well i just didn’t want to come across as rude.
LoL I had seen that exact thing a few times, kinda got ahead of myself.

You’re a good guy, thank you.

Maybe we could add a requirement to the Basic Trust level? Submit a sworn oath that no print quality questions will be submitted without first drying and calibrating the filament.

But then we wouldn’t have much to talk about…
