I need a Smooth PEI plate or something similar for my X2D.
I used the original from Bambu Lab extensively with my X1C (now sold with the plate, argghhhh!) and my A1 Mini. I love those plates.
Went to buy a couple for my new X2D and it’s not for sale any more. There is a dual PEI version available, is it really a Smooth PEI on one of it’s sides?
I did a little research on the forum and it looks like the BIQU Cryogrip Glacier is recommended as an alternative, but is not as smooth as the original.
Any other plate I should considered? It will be mainly used with ABS so no low temp plates, please.
The BIQU Glacier is the go to here, the difference in their surface is measured in microns, in practical usage, it’s just as smooth AND you don’t have to deal with the glued on PEI surface sheet delaminating from the plate… (which they all do in time)
I print exclusively ABS at 115 degrees plate temp… 2k+ in hours on the printer… When I got my first one I tested it on my X1C and my X2D, I immediately went and bought four more…

I am somewhat on the fence with regards to the glacier, its not bad, but i honestly hoped for more (adhesion). I also have an Arkfly cobweb (conweb?) - advertised as cold plate (it isnt) but really is a glacier clone, that i find has better adhesion. have printed nylon, pc, abs, petg and pla on it…
the newest (real) cold plates are rated for abs too by the way, would definately consider them.
I just received a green Kdeavi one (apparrently more grip than frostbite and matte surface). give me a couple of days and ill post about my experience
Glacier is such a nice plate, the finish I would call a “satin” visually and feels nice. Not glass smooth, but very smooth and even. Your overhangs near the plate will be better because you can print cooler.
