So can you get ripped off even if you are not in a contest?

I take model theft quite seriously, and I can confidently say I never actually saw his model before I went to base mine off the most current Zelda game . However, I will point out that the game model files are out there for people who want to do quick and dirty mesh remixes as this appears to be (I purposely did not, because I didn’t want to use Nintendo IP directly, as that’s asking for trouble).

In any event, the original complaint is hilarious in light of @drewcifer’s low quality walrus, which looks to be another game mesh rip instead of a fresh clean proper model.

There’s a deep irony to his complaints when he “rips off my walrus” . C.f. Sylvester the Silly Walrus by Adam L - MakerWorld vs BULBUS WALLRUS by jomocomo - MakerWorld a year later.

I would never complain as clearly the walrus is based on another common character that neither of us owns… but it’s a funny situation where I could claim that he “ripped me off” (I don’t think he did, but mine was first in the walrus case).

The walrus appears to be a direct rip of the Nintendo game file I just looked up… so … uh… yea… not very smart posting a direct copy of Nintendo IP. I would and have used such models as a reference , but I would not think of posting them directly as my own.

P.S. Keys feel like fair game in a castle contest… ever heard the phrase “keys to the castle” ? It’s just a creative interpretation on the theme IMO.

Subtext/Rejoinder: I look forward to you putting forward your CAD history or modeling process as proof that you’ve put in non-trivial effort and are not just passing off game files as yours and/or remeshing them. I also look forward to your explanation around the Walrus. I’ve shown you mine, where’s yours?.

If you start slinging mud, you should be sure you’ve actually accused the right person. I would also consider just… dropping this whole issue and moving on. It might be the wise move.
