So I Switched to PETG

I print large flat pieces with text and rounded edges in multi colors. In PLA all works beautifully. Switched to PETG same color schemes same models and the Text will not print. It shows up as expected as a positive part in Prepare mode

and acts like a Negative part after slicing and prints as a very muddy Negative part.

It seems to be related to the White and Black Matte PETG. All were dried for 12 hours in the X1-C at the PETG settings. Printing with a .8 nozzle at .24mm, at 8000/4000 speeds, with ironing, and Strength 15% [default].

Dont blame the PETG. I only print in PETG and have flawless prints. Here what i see including the slicer image that you included is that the font and parts are thinner than the nozzle you said 0.8 that you are printing with. You can see in the image that it was never going to print the letters. You can try to enable Archane which might help but those items are looking for mych thinner beads to print. Enable Archane you can also Drop down to a 0.6 or 0.4 nozzle in the slicer and re slice and see that the letters show up

This is not PETG’s fault

Looks like the letters are raised only a tiny amount while your layer height is quite large.
You may want to give adaptive layer height a try in the slicer.

I was not challenging the worth or performance of PETG. I was questioning the reason why it wouldn’t print the letters regardless if I tried raised or negative letters. Your explanation about nozzle to bead size is something I did not consider. Where do I find the “Archane” option in the Bambu slicer? It maybe my Device Version 01.05.02.00 is not currently properly updated although that is what the Deice update section shows.

You can find it in quality. Also a great video about it if you dont know what its doing is below talking about 0.6 vs 0.4 nozzles with archane. You can apply it the same to any nozzle but dont think a 0.8 will print like a 0.4 but you will get better resolution with this method on some prints

The Arachne option did the job. No other changes required. Both slicer and printed showed the fonts raised and partially imbedded and the rounded areas smoother. Thanks. Now I just have to find more PETG filament. :grinning:

Great to hear. Archane does work for somethings and is a great leap forward at somepoint like prusa slicer this should be the default since there is really now down side for the most part.
