to all,
see attachment. it is for tom-tom turkey, the tail. i scaled it to 63 %.
the solid tops of the tail feathers are about 5 layers. I want to make LESS SOLID LAYERS, and more fill layers.
I changed the settings for TOP SHELL LAYERS, from 5, to even 1, but it still does about 5 layers of solid fill on top of each feather.
what am i missing?
how to make less of solid-fill layers on the tops of the feathers? any feedback appreciated

Hi aPrinterInTheHills
I changed the layer thickness to 0 to force the slicer to create just one layer, but I have to say not to expect a very good result for the top layer since it’s just a single layer on top of the infill. In my opinion, it’s better to leave at least 3 layers for a better finish.

thanks for reply !!
i kept trying to change the shell TOP LAYERS, but i MISSED the setting of top layer thickness !!
i can adjust thickness to 0.6 mm, and three layers, and that will work for what i want !!
thanks very much !!

i’ll mark it as resolved. just a comment, that setting is what adjusts it, but for the feathers at the lower levels, it still does not TOTALLY fix them, they still get about 4 layers of solid, instead of 5, if i do the setting of 3, and 0.6. but it is the setting that modifies this. so, it could be layer height, etc, that does not let me totally adjust the whole model, but now i know where to modify this.
thanks again !
