I use Solidworks for my designing. When I checked the 3D printers supported, Bambu Labs is notably absent. Prusa, Raise3D (my current printer), and many other popular printer manufacturers are supported. For BL to support Solidworks, Bambu Studio would need to support for Solidworks 3D Print API. Can’t be too hard since others do it - may just be a matter of priorities. HINT - BL, how about it??? Fusion 360 supports Cura so they can at least receive files. Hopefully soon, Studio will also.
I send stl straight to bambu studio from fusion 360. I just pick custom and then direct fusion360 to bambu studio on my network. Works great for me.
Using the Step/stp export from Solidworks is probably your best option. Bambu Studio uses this format better than STLs.
What do you mean by this? All you can do is export the STL/STEP as a file (possibly on a shared drive) and then add the part to a “project” in BS, right? Or is there some API to send stuff to BS over the network?
I gave up on Fusions “3D Print / Cura” solution as I could not get it to work reliably on all OS platforms. Granted that was while ago and Fusion has improved significantly on Mac’s over the past 3 years.
These days Ive just been exporting (either from File/Export or File/3D Print) from Fusion as 3MF with no issues (takes less than 5 seconds for most models). I then import the 3MF file into my slicer of choice (BBL / Prusa / SuperSlicer).
If I had to wait 5-10 minutes to export to an STL via the cloud (which use to be typical) I might want something better, however since exporting to a 3MF is local and only takes a few seconds Im not motivated for a better solution. Granted Fusion cannot display the 3MF but Im ok with that based on my current workflow.
Granted its not a single button solution but for me its adequate since I don’t design/print 300 parts a day.
Yes i go from Fusion360 straight to Bambu Studio. STL only.
How to:
Pick file drop menu
Pick 3d print and another window pops up on the right
Click the box Send to print utility
Click print utility and choose custom
Then click the grey folder and then you find the Bambu Studio execution file. (Where ever you installed the program)
Highlight your design and then click okay.
It should start up BS and load it on the prepare tab in BS.
And it is quicker the second time you use 3D Print because Fusion 360 remembers which print utility to use.
