Some AMS issues

HI all,

a coupla questions:

  • what’s with the black scotch tape at the end of the Bambu filament? It blocks the input every time and stops the print process instead of jumoing to the next available spool. Has that been changed at factory level?

  • Each time I load a new spool ( I use the printed ones as refills), the first couple of meters, the filament is like squeezed against the left side of the spool wall and is as good as jammed. I have to unspool a coupla meters by hand before it is losely coming of the middle of the spool.

Thanks for any advice!

They have been tweaking the tape at a factory level, I bought 4 spools a couple of weeks ago and have gone through them, the filament is only a few millimeters taped, but the tape is almost around the entire spool, so when the AMS pulls the filament, it doesn’t pull the tape; at least on my spools.

Assuming you’re using spool refills, are you following the Bambu procedure using your thumbs to spread out the refill spool? I’ve been strictly using refills for a few weeks, and originally I had the issue you have, but that went away after I followed the “massage” method when using a spool refill. See step 4: Refill Filament with Bambu Reusable Spool / Refill | Bambu Lab Wiki

They should use some kinda sticky glue that the filament can pull of.

Thanks, I will give that a try!
