SoundBlaster incompatibility

Does anyone know of a workaround that would allow SoundBlaster to be used while BB x1 is installed. Have lost all my sound ability because part of the SoundBlaster software must be disabled in order for X1 to run. Real shortfall of the system.

Not sure what you mean.
the printer will run independently of your computer. in fact you dont even need a computer to run the printer. so how does a piece of computer hardware keep the printer from running?
the printer does not care about your computer.

Huh? Don’t see how the two could possibly be related…

guess I was not clear. I was not speaking of the printer at all. Just the software used by BB to slice the item. It conflicts with SoundBlaster so you get an error notice. Once you disable SoundBlaster it all works just fine. I did not intend to mention the printer at all in my initial post, surprised I did.

An I get it. I mentioned the x1 Carbon. So I guess it was assumed it was a printer problem. Actually the printer gets its instruction from the slice file in the BB software I think. That is where the problem was encountered…. While trying to slice. Others have had the same problem. Just wondered if there was a work-around. Maybe it is better to address it to BBL and see if they can come up with a fix.

I am impressed that Soundblasters are still around. I thought they had gone the way of the DOS command line. Good on your for rocking a soundblaster.

As for it conflicting with your driver, that’s one I’d bring to the support page. Sounds like a major bug. Does any other software do that for you?

Funny. They are still one of the top rated sound cards in the industry. And no, it does not interfere with any other software. But there was a gentleman on here that experience the same error due to the sound card. Apparently BBL is aware of it because they have a very distinct error notice for it telling you what you must disable.

Seems I can not submit a support ticket as it requires so much information that I can not provide like end date and log files. What a complicated support ticket just to ask a simple question. I can understand why much of it is needed, but to make it mandatory before you can submit a simple question.

You could alternatively open an issue to the actual developer team, if BambuStudio or the network plugin is conflicting with your SB drivers:

An application crashing is not a “simple question.” If you can’t submit log files due to IP concerns then print a test model that is not IP restricted and submit log files for that.

Thanks for the GitHub tip. I am New to all this and was not aware of that tidbit. Will give that a try.

Not really an issue with anything crashing. This occurred at the beginning of May when I first got my x1. After deleting the SoundBlaster software the X1 set up fine. But this is our multi-purpose family PC that we actually use for a flight simulator and other things that require sound. So I am just getting back to trying to fix the issue so everything works together. Not sure why anyone would design software that conflicts with key elements of sound card software since they are commonly used in high end PC. But they have… now can they fix it.

For the life of me I can not find BBL on GitHub, even though your link took me to the sign on page. Oh well try something else. Maybe I will just have to build another PC to get sound. For us old farts this stuff is a little complicated. But thanks.

That’s the correct link, you’ll need to a GitHub account to report an issue.
Bambu Lab · GitHub is the link to their main GitHub page.

What’s the actual error message you get when using Bambu Studio when the SoundBlaster driver is enabled?

You could give Orca Slicer a try, it’s a fork of Bambu Studio, but there’s a chance it might work. GitHub - SoftFever/OrcaSlicer: G-code generator for 3D printers (Bambu, Prusa, Voron, VzBot, RatRig, Creality, etc.)

Indeed that is the correct link and it takes me to GH where I have to sign in. I have had a GH account for some time but can not figure out how to navigate it. As for the error msg I can not recall the exact verbiage. Should have taken a screenshot. But it mentioned a particular type of file that was interfering with the initial BBL setup. Found the file and delayed and tge install went fine. Another man on here had the same problem and as I recall he showed an image of tge error. I will look for it and get back to you.

Is the error actually stopping you from using the slicer? Whenever I start mine I get an error as well from my motherboards audio drivers. The slicer works fine as long as I use it on my primary monitor. As soon as I move it to my secondary it’ll crash, so I just don’t do that. Maybe your issue is something different, hard to say without a screenshot of the error. I know my particular issue was the same thing that happened when I used Prusa slicer before getting the X1. Bambu Studio is a fork of Prusa so it makes sense that the error comes up on both.

Yes, it would not allow me to initially start the system up.

For what it’s worth. I’m running Bambu Slicer on a Windows 10 PC with Soundblaster drivers (for Soundblaster Z) without any issues. You didn’t really say what conflict technically you were experiencing, e.g. an error message, an interrupt conflict, blue screen…

My bad. I got an error message saying that one creative labs file would interfere with the initial setup of my X1when I first unpacked it. I never moved forward to see what it would do if I did not uninstall the soundblaster file, I just uninstalled it and the X1 started just fine. Have not yet tried to reinstall Soundblaster. Will do so soon and see what happens. Another gent had the same problem and spoke of it on the platform.
