This is to the new update on bambu studio, when I want to rotate a mirrored object, the rotation will go all over the place.
For example, to replicate the issue, you can load up an object, rotate a little bit on 2 axis, make a mirror copy on any axis, and try to rotate that mirrored object. All 3 axis will go crazy even if you try to rotate it on 1 axis only.
Does anyone has this issue? I am sure I didn’t have this problem on previous version.
Yeah can confirm that parts start flipping around when rotating a mirrored object in BS 1.9.1.66 (WIN)
Seems to work ok if the part was mirrored along the X axis
If mirrored along Y axis then the part will flip along the Y axis with each rotation operation no matter which rotation axis is used
If mirrored along the z axis then the part will flip along the z axis with each rotation operation no matter which rotation axis is used.
(edit to add: FYI I made a Bug report on Bambu Labs Github regarding this)
thanks for testing that out.
so far prusa slicer mirror mode is still the best one i used yet.
i print BJD parts mostly and it’s so annoying to have to re-do the orientation on every mirrored parts.
Yeah it’s annoying. From my tests the issue only occurs if you mirror on the y or z axis, parts mirrored on the x axis seem to rotate normally. Also with the rotation bug it flips the part every time you finish the rotation so if you do the rotation in two steps the part will be flipped back
Just show that it flips back every second rotation step
What happens when you enter the degrees of rotation with the keyboard?
same effect when degrees are entered manually
I want to add that same thing happen with the scale tool.
When the object is rotated first and then scale, the scaling is on the local base, not global. Which means if you have a cylinder that is 45 degree when loaded into the plate and rotate it back to sit flat on the plate, you will have a hard time scaling it without making it deform.
bambulab please fix this or add the option to let user choose local or global transform.
I have a 3MF with a model that slices and prints just fine, but Studio will not allow me to rotate it 180º. If I rotate it on the build plate, when I let go it snaps back to the original rotation.
Rotating objects in Studio seems like it might have a bug or two.
I’m new here and can find out how to post a new topic, however this topic is about the same general thing, I need to know how to rotate an object.
i have a piece of the filament spool mount that for some unknown reason so standing on the rounded off tip instead of the flat bit on the opposite side of the piece i hit the rotate button on the side of the bambu studio bed and it is now laying on it’s side. is there any way to rotate it 90* so it’s standing on the flat side?
One way is with the Rotate command (R key), which lets you drag the colored blocks to spin the model or to rotate by a specific number of degrees.
An easier method is to use the Lay on Face command (F key). Just click on one of the shaded areas and that area will be placed on the plate.
Just wanted to add another data point: this issue is still occurring on latest build. After mirroring an object, any attempt to rotate it causes it to go crazy.
This is still happening on 1.9.7.52
Extremely annoying, I have to load my plate in PrusaSlicer and export to Bambu. This is really bad for my workflow.
