Hmm okay. I didn’t notice the P1 series tag. I have an X1C so do have the internal USB port option. I think I will go ahead and try my way and post it on an X1C tag
The power supply can handle the extra load of better lighting, but there are limits on how much current the USB port and its board can pass. Using a relay is more difficult, but a safer way to use a better power source and retain the standard controls.
I used an electronic “relay” and powered my lights from unused power supply terminals on my X1C. Details are in the X1C topics, here, here, and here. You might find other good ideas in that same topic.
