Hello, I’m trying to figure out how to make simple vases without it having a seam. I can currently watch the printer slow down and adjust at one spot through the height of the print.
I have enabled smooth spiral but I still get vases with seams. What am I missing here?
3mf please and/or screenshot of the slicer preview in Line Type mode, with travel, retract, wipe shown.
In general, when you enable spiral vase, do so at the end of your tweaking of settings. When you enable it, it will change some other related process settings for you and you do not want to undo that or you get something that isn’t quite a vase.
Here are both. I don’t see the artifact in line type mode at all.
I had seam settings default and I tried to print again with all disabled/set to random to see if it fixed the issue (it did not). I have not changed these since I last printed this.
Looks good to me. Loaded in an older Bambu studio 2.0.2 and Orca 2.3.x.
Mine may not be the best perspective, It wouldn’t load directly on either of my slicers because of H2D unsupport, but after hitting ok on a few things and moving to a defined printer, carrying along the settings, it sliced into a nice vase. I dunno, sorry!
I have no retraction settings enabled so I did not see the one you are referring to.
That being said - I have done some tests to try and isolate the issue. From all that I can tell this is being caused by the timelapse function in Vase mode. Not sure why.
There seems to be some slow down maybe for motion blur/clarity right at the moment timelapse is taking photos.
Below are some photos of the seam, as well as the related file. I did several of these prints trying out different variables. The last item I changed to fix this was disabling timelapse.
Here you can see photos of 3 vases. #1 without timelapse, #2 with timelapse, #3 with timelapse in a different material. I have included a second photo to show the seam areas in case they are not clear to all. I cannot find any artifact/seam on vase #1 without timelapse, but every vase with it I can find it.
Unless I am missing something here, this seems like an issue in the Bambu Timelapse function with Vases and the H2D? Should I submit this as an error report and if so can someone point me how?
Oh, that’s interesting. I’ve always left timelapse etc off since it adds travel, but I didn’t think it would be silly enough to force itself into vase mode too.
Idk what the intended behavior shoudl be when combining these 2 edge-case modes, but I’d recommend “not doing that”
