So I’m an old dog trying to learn a new trick. I’ve mastered sit up and sleep, but not much else.
My wife just started taking classes to bolster her future with her current job/career. With her enrollment comes the perks of education software. So yeah, I have Shapr 3D as well as Fusion of at least a year.
I prefer Shapr at the moment. I have a Wacom Intuos on the way to use with my paint/drawing software and figure it can be used with Shapr and Fusion.
I’m not looking for detailed instructions…yet. What I would llike to do is get a heads up on any tips or what not that may be helpful. I plan on starting a document to keep them handy if anyone responds.
I intend to do all the tutorials available and any other instructions I can find. I thought maybe those that use it for exactly what I intend to use it for would be a good source.
My goal is really to expand on the Star Wars figure display stands as well as some Lego display stuff. I have one idea I’d really like to do and it doesn’t strike me as all that hard. I’d also like to redo the stands I currently have.
Anywhoo, thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for any hints, tips, resources, help.
Did you mean to post this in the Shapr forums lol?
No, I meant to post it here.
Is that a problem for you?
No, but we have a good community over there where you’ll get way more in-depth help https://discourse.shapr3d.com/
Worth signing up because there’ll be so many questions you have already answered over there, and plenty of people on hand to help you as you learn.

Thank you. I’ll lurk it for a bit.
I’m posting here because I’m comfortable with some of the useres here, and respect their opinions.
I’m shy by nature that extends to online as well. I’ll definately take your advice and check it out/read it. I hadn’t yet thought of that so I indeed appreciate it.
I use Shapr as my main program but I’m not sure there are many others in here that use it, so if you want to stick to here then I can help with what I’ve learned so far. But I’m no expert yet, although I have used it to make plenty of cool stuff

I appreciate that greatly. I used to be excellent with new things but as age comes in I get a little slower and a little less tolerant of my own mistakes.
I picked Shapr because it seems easier to navigate for me, and I can use it on my iPad as well as my Windows Machine. This way on break or lunch at work I can learn/use it without carrying my laptop.
Any other software you have found that may be helpful?
I too am getting older, although you wouldn’t think it from my youthful zest on here
I struggle to learn new programs and when I found Shapr on iPad a few years back it instantly clicked with me, and although I still get frustrated with at times, the guys over on the official forums are so helpful, one guy called Bob is a legend he will help however stupid your question may sound!
Any other software for 3D modelling? Not really, I’ve tried nearly all of them, Fusion is probably the next best in terms ease of use/cost etc but I find the app to be beyond sluggish and that really puts me off designing with it, Shapr is smooth as butter on all my machines. If you want to try something really fun and simple (and free) there’s also TinkerCAD which is an online app and actually pretty powerful once you learn a few tricks!

I played with tinker cad, felt too…well it wasn’t for me.
I agree on Fusion. I don’t have a high end laptop but it’s no slouch either. Fusion is sluggish and I get irritated with it easily. I’m actually surprised how fluid and smooth Shapr is on both the iPad and my laptop.
I’ve already created an account and will lurk for a few days/weeks absorbing what I can on my own. I just realized I’m spelling it wrong, so yeah…

I have Shapr installed and tinker with it occasionally, I’m stubborn so it tends to only get so far before I drop it and crawl back to fusion. Still as you have found it does have some prospect for that day when I need to swap. I can’t lend any advice as you’ve probably got further along than me, its like most things where you need that muscle memory to kick in. Good luck

I don’t know about posting links to creations but my makerworld user name is like most of yours, the same here as there.
I’ve recently redid some star wars stands I created haphazardly awhile back. Now I’ve used Shapr to create some that are better, well at lease sturdier.
If anyone would take look i’d appreciate some feedback.
