I’m experiencing a recurring issue with my Bambu P1S printer.
During automatic filament changes, the printer appears to lose steps on the X-axis, causing the entire print to shift to the right and rendering the final piece unusable.
I’ve recorded a video of the filament change process and noticed that the shift occurs specifically during the purging of the new filament. At that moment, the print head makes a slight, unexpected movement to the right.
I’m not sure whether this is a mechanical issue, a firmware bug, or something related to the AMS settings. I would really appreciate any advice from someone who has faced a similar issue or has technical knowledge of the system.
I’ve attached the video for clarity.
I have an open ticket with Bambu, but it will take a while, and that’s why I’m asking for help.
Make sure that the print head can fully access the cutter in the front left corner. If there are restrictions such a too short of PTFE tube or some mode you added it will cause a step loss when filament change happens. Move the head manually into the front left corner to verify.
I am familiar with the part that is an internal part of the toolhead but 1000% had no idea about the stationary component whatsoever.
Learned something new today.
I own a P1S and while the design is different, there is a cutter stopper. Almost impossible to locate.
If you bring toolhead to front left corner, you can find it. You need a light and look straight down by the cutter lever on the toolhead and you can find it.
Has a spring to keep it from snapping I assume.
I just took this picture.
