Sticky supports strongly stuck

I’m pretty new to this, so maybe this is obvious to most or all of you, but wanted to share my experience anyway!

I printed off a couple models and was having an issue with the support material sticking to the print rather tightly. The top layers of support were essentially fused to the print.

I will switch between normal and tree support to view the slice, and after some trial and error I realized what was happening.

If you choose tree support and take the “experimental” values from the pop-up dialogue, it sets “Top Z Distance” to 0. When you switch back to normal, it does not automatically readjust this value - you will need to manually set Top Z Distance again. If you do not change this value from 0, your supports will be fused to the part.

Just throwing this out there for anyone that ran into the same problem!

We’re chasing each other around here, LOL

There’s a thing in both slicers that lets you choose Tree Slim like here, it should fix that.

Ignore the red circle, that’s if you’re printing with Support material on an X1C, doing that on a P1P would have you looking for a gun to end it …LOL

BL Studio - Support Interface Setting

EDIT: The “you have to switch back” is because you’re not starting a New Project when starting a new job. That resets the settings to normal. If you have a set of settings that are dialed in you SAVE them as a new profile.

Yeah, this one was a case of me just overlooking a setting. Thanks for the advice - I just wanted to save someone else the time it took me to find it!
