Still looking for the perfect LED mount for my P1P

I am still chasing the elusive perfect mount for the LED on my P1P.
When I got it I printed the model that BBL provided, but my led strip did not fit because of the goo on the LED strip connector. Before I got around to fixing that I tried the top front mount that was mentioned in a post.

Top Front

I did not like the top mount for two reasons:

  1. the right end of the led was visible in the camera view
  2. when I physically looked down at the print the LED was shining in my eyes.
The second might have been fixable by printing one part of the holder with non-white filament.

Stock Mount

I printed a slightly modified version of the BBL mount and mounted it where they suggested. It was okay. I was happy with it there.

X1 Style Mount

When I added the cable chain so that I could route my PTFE tube without needing it to support the cable, the cover that holds the end of the chain required me to remove my LED. The X1 has the LED mounted on the lower rail next to the camera. I thought that might work. I found a mount for that spot, printed it and installed the light. I have two problems with the X1 light location:

  1. The light reflects off the side of the bed making it look like another light, which annoys me
  2. the low mount really shines on the model brightly and from such a low angle that the print looks terrible. I keep going to look at it and find that it is fine. It is just the bright light and camera lens combining to make every detail jump out

I am back to just using the room lighting. The camera compensates for the amount of light well enough to let me see if the print has failed and that is good enough, at least until I see another idea for LED lighting that is different than what I have tried.

Who has a different idea for placement of the LED strip?

Personally I have used this one with a USB led strip :

I use this for months now and I am pretty happy with it.

It looks interesting, and very bright. Having it on all sides should minimize the problem of shadows from the print head.
How much does it show in the camera?
Can you see the light at the top of the opposite side?

I have used this strip LED that you can cut to length :

Here is a capture of bambustudio with LED strip on :

The camera image is not a lot brighter because the camera auto-exposure compensate, but looking to the inside of the printer is a lot more confortable.

Here is a picture :

Note that if you lite off the LED after the camera have done its auto-exposure will make the camera image nearly black until the camera redo auto-exposure wich hppend not often.

EDIT :

It looks interesting, and very bright. Having it on all sides should minimize the problem of shadows from the print head.

With this system you still get rod and printhead shadow when the bed is high, I am pretty sure that removing side (left/right LED should do the job)

Maybe you mean these front mount for the P1P LED strip from Bambu Lab. I don’t have the problem to see the end of the LED in the camera, only the reflections on the build plate.

But I’m also thinking about another solution, because it’s to much light from the front. I’m thinking about a split solution with LEDs from left and front.

im using the remix of this with cobb led’s. i added an inline dimmer knob on the back of the printer so i can turn it up/down/off. it is very bright.
