STL filename is not used when exporting plate sliced file

I’m using Bambu Studio 1.4.0.18 under macOS Ventura 13.1 on a M1 Pro MacBook Pro.

My printer is a X1 Carbon Combo bought in the EU, running firmware 01.03.00.00.

If I add an STL file via the “+” icon in the tool bar on the Prepare tab, Bambu Studio doesn’t use its filename when I’m using “Export plate sliced file” to save it locally to my computer. It just suggests the generic name “Untitled_plate_1.gcode.3mf”.

Curiously it does work as expected when I use the keyboard shortcut cmd-i to add the STL file.

I always thought that the project name is used for the file…
The STL name would only make sense if there is only one single object on the plate. Which name to chose if there are two objects on the plate with different STL names?

But you are right, using “command-i” sends the STL name. :+1:
So I would also consider this as a bug, both ways should behave the same.

Since I mostly print single STL files I haven’t really used project files in any FDM slicer yet. Also I don’t do manual supports or other modifications to the models that are worth saving for future re-use.

I think that a lot of users just take a quick look at the project tab and won’t bother using it since their usage scenario is similar to mine: just print that file, done.

I guess you’re right, I don’t care much about projects too.

But I use to collect more than one object for a print, so still my question which STL name to chose then.
