STL thumbnails went away with the latest Mac OS update

Anyone else have their STL files on their Mac showing up as these icons instead of the thumbnails? Just happened with the last update the other day, Sequoia 15.1.1

I miss not being able to see what the file is now. :sob:

There is something odd here, I have 15.1.1 running on a mini and a Studio.
I see thumbnails for STL files, but certainly not on 3mf files.

Mine are fine on the Mac, it is likely some other app hijacking the format.

See my other comment here for 3mf thumbnails on the Mac.

Ok, so this is kind of weird. I tried rebooting a few times thinking that might fix whatever was going on, but that didn’t work. But what did happen is Orca hijacked all of my 3mf icons. I haven’t even opened or updated Orca in months. I uninstalled Orca and rebooted, but the Orca icons were still there even though the default icon for all 3mf files is the Bambu icon. So I reinstalled Orca and went into it’s resources folder and swapped out the Orca icon for the Bambu icon, rebooted again and for some reason now all of my STL files have the proper thumbnail preview icon.

Does any of that make any sense? Did Orca go rogue and mess up my STL files some how too?

Sounds like the resources were messed up.
But, if it works now …

When this happens for any preview. rightclick on a file with the extension that got screwed up and choose “open with”. then even if you see the app you want, don’t click it… choose “other…” THEN go find the app and before you select it click the checkbox that says “always open with” ( or similar depending on osx versions).
this will reset it… In the case of .stl files if you want to see a previews and be able to rotate it etc… you must choose the OSX preview.app
For the 3mf I always just choose my current slicer.

these settings always get hijacked on the next install or update of any app that uses the format in question
