There are multiples stolen models as one can imagine in the Kit Card contest. reported a few with starwars design but there are too many. For instance all these T-rex, dinos and insects kit card are old posted on Thingiverse, printables, cults3d … you name it. Also Libro is the phoenix spawn from LibroONE who has everything been taken down.
@MakerWorld @BambuLab
I made one of those TRex models. The templates are available for free online, I checked the license on this one before I spent time making it into a model. I spent hours creating paths for the template, using those paths in Fusion 360 to generate 3D models, labeling, and placing each bone. Then more time printing and refining the models. I don’t think that is stealing.
It’s actually the same model and photo on Thingiverse. (Avro Lancaster Kit Card by Estebene - Thingiverse)
Thanks for clearing that up.
The lack of proper Moderation in this Reporting system boils my blood. I currently have a model that has been stolen here and simply cut and shut (tacky studio job too). I sent multiple reports (as they wanted more info) and supporting pics with detailed descriptions (with arrows). And yet the red reply Failed. I deliberately build a “defect” into each model that isn’t obvious but can be seen once pointed out (offset radiuses etc), this is my model.
I even placed theirs over mine with no resizing in Studio, not one dimension out of place. Nah. I’ve had it and pulled my stuff down. CBF.
Sad, and those that I reported are so obvious and from repetitive thieves, some you look at their past uploads, you know they don’t have the capacity to model such complicated models.
BTW, you know any moderator/bambu staff whom you can tag in Forum? the @BambuLab and @MakerWorld seems idle.
I’ve given up. Not worth my effort, time is best spent elsewhere. I have never had any PM replied to here and doubt they really want to beyond promoting the product.
too bad … I’m about to give up myself. Then I will upload tons of pirated models to milk the points as that’s what they wanted. Should change their name to PirateWorld.
I think it’s only a matter of time before Makerworld runs into trouble with bigger players. Then it could be expensive if they don’t change their attitude.
I’m also tired of regularly reporting copyright infringement on my designs and getting rejected frequently, and have also considered leaving Makerworld - but if I remove my designs here, copycats will continue to upload them. That would annoy me even more.
No matter - if Makerworld doesn’t get better here, their dream of a high-quality model database won’t come true.
I assume they are not published as remix? (If your license even allows it)
@ThreeD-Michael I hear you, the level of content is falling and the ease which these thieves can get away without consequence is plain annoying. It’ll continue on, sadly the numbers will show how successful they are and then tiny noises from way down here are easily ignored.
I did contemplate hardening up and staying but the ease at which this happens is depressing and getting the cold red text bounced back at me shows how much they care.
MakerWorld looks great from the outside but these dreams of grandeur will fail if they don’t get the basics right. There is a fantastic resource loitering around this forum, I can’t understand how they haven’t Deputised a handful at minimum, I mean its not going to cost them a red cent.
@xsynatic I had switched all my models to plain Copyright due to a few other episodes. No, they don’t have the integrity. Prior to the change, I had no issue with someone remixing and I even encouraged it when they engaged with me. This person would’ve been ok, but no… So now I’ve got a petty statement on the last living model on my profile (the stolen one). It’ll be typical that my infraction gets me deleted and banned off here
Edit to add. I’m a little happier this morning as I see poetic justice in the form that my “protest model” is in their Related Models list hahaha…
The kit card contest page is stuffed full of not kit cards. It’s hard to find the real ones with all the spam in there. Plus I’ve found two stolen designs already and reported them.
I do wish Bambu had someone moderating the submissions and removing ones that are clearly not on-theme. I can’t see the judges enjoying wading through the mess; I certainly don’t. I love kit cards and it’s just mind numbing looking for the real ones.
And when it is kit cards, they are not original, CC0 or not, just not original. Uploaded as remix prohibited the entering into contest… so people choose to upload as their original. Reporting were not taken seriously as well.
