Strange Layer Separation Toward end of Long Print

So, did an almost 2 day print with over 1k color changes. Everything was looking good, but when I took it off the printer after printing it, I looked at the back and saw this mess. Not sure what happened here as it has not done it on any other prints since.

The gray is Sainsmart HS PLA. Flow ratio .99. Pressure advance .019. Bed Temp 45 on one of the blue cryo plates.

Nozzle temp 220. Aux fan off. Print speed, outer wall 200, inner wall 300. Volumetric flow 18.

I am kind of at a loss as to what is causing this considering it was fine up to that point and seemed to get somewhat better later, though still not perfect.

Any ideas?

Just a thought: did you switch to a new filament spool at the point where it started to separate?

Thanks for the response.

No. Same roll of filament; however, it was on a cardboard spool. After the failure, I put.an adapter around it to make it more stable. I also tweaked a couple of other things like speed and such.

On my second attempt, it failed again, but in a much earlier part of the print. Again, it only affected the gray part and not the white, so my conclusion is that Sainsmart filament is not of very high quality.

I had created a custom profile for it, so I know it wasn’t just the generic settings.

I am retrying it again using filament brands I know and trust, but doing it in silk silver and silk white. Going to take much longer, but hopefully will work this time.

I have never had a layer separation issue on my Bambulab printers. I used to on my Creality (shudder) and my Qidi, but not on my Bambu.
