Strange surface

Hello,
I have a surface finition problem, I believe you call that “Ringing“
I reduce the speed but it is the same ! what can I do ?

any help will be appreciated.

If I were to guess, you’re using factory default settings for your filaments. This looks like a classic flow ratio problem, but there may be other factors involved.

Are you using PLA? Knowing the filament type could help. Also, since you didn’t mention it, I’ll assume you haven’t calibrated your filament and are relying on the X1 autocalibration and/or factory defaults. Those can only get you so far. If you’re looking for perfection, you’ll need to manually refine the settings.

Before trying to diagnose your model, start with a first-layer test. The easiest way is to take a cube primitive and scale it to 200x200x0.2mm. This will produce a one-layer square on your build plate, revealing flow ratio issues and plate adhesion/contamination. Since contamination doesn’t seem to be the problem, focus on the flow ratio.


In these examples, I used Orca Slicer’s Flow Ratio Calibration tool first. I then printed smaller 100x100x0.2mm first-layer sheets to compare the results of my calibration to real-world application, and varied the flow ratio dramatically in the slicer filament profile to gauge the effect. You can see a rippling effect caused by just minor changes in flow ratio—0.98 vs. 0.93.

Here’s the Orca Slicer tutorial page on how to calibrate the flow rate. Don’t bother with the Bambu calibration tools; they do more harm than good. They create a false sense that you’ve calibrated the filament when, in fact, you may not have reached optimal settings. You might also find it necessary to have two filament profiles for finicky models or filaments, like TPU. This has been helpful for me.

You’ll also need to install Orca Slicer as well.

first of all,
I’m a complete newbee in 3D printing, and I’m learning.
I use bambulab PLA, and don’t touch the parameter of the filament.
I made the first calibration of the machine when I installed it.
that’s all.

There’s no shame in being new… we’ve all been there, that’s what this forum is for. :wink:The good news is that since your dealing from the defaults, you now have a lot of options for troubleshooting. All too often we get challenges where people have tried everything.
