Stripped Extruder Screw Head. P1S is crippled! HELP!

While attempting to change the nozzle on my P1S, I stripped the screw head, and now the extruder is locked in the machine. Ouch! I tried a screw extractor, but it would not grab. The screw must be hardened steel.

Please help. Thank you.

Striped screw heads suck. Sometimes a drop of super glue on the end of the hex key will be enough to loosen the screw. Be careful to not use too much as super glue can get everywhere and make a bad situation worse. Alternatively you can use fast set JB weld.

Worse case scenario, try using a dremel to cut a slot in the screw head and you can turn it out with a flat head screwdriver.

Good luck!

I tried the super glue first. No luck. I will try the Dremel route.

The irony is that I am very careful not to overtighten screws. I must have just used that screw too many times. From now on, I will be careful to rotate screws when I change filament.

Thank you for your suggestion.

FYI. Bambu now has a “replacement screw set”.

Cutting a slot and using a flat head screwdriver worked. My printer has survived.

I’ve added the replacement screw set to my cart.

Thank you, Jon.

I’d like to recommend a set of wera drivers. They have a much better fit, and I’ve never stripped a screw with them. I’ve actually managed to remove stripped screws using them, because the fit is that much better vs cheap allen wrenches.
