If there is ANY way to get rid of this access code or to make it permanent I would love to know how…
Why?
Because I am sick and tired of re-entering the access code in Studio.
Lan only mode, so no real need for having an access code on top…
I know Studio and the printer update the code on a regular base and that this should only require to enter the code in Studio ONCE.
Just today I did that 5 times already…
What is the point of this useless access code security if Studio seems unable to remember it even while a model is printing ???
Today Studio lost the access code 6 times, you can’t imagine my frustration…
So I started to go digging for this code, after all, if Studio claims the code is wrong then it has to be somewhere…
Found the culprit in the file BambuStudio.conf and BambuStudio.conf.bak
Second line in the file has the access code in brackets - the WRONG access code!
I changed it to the correct one while Studio was closed and saved the file(s) after the first two lost access codes of the day.
Studio accepted the files, had no issues any more with the access code and all was finally working - for about 20 minutes until the code was lost again and the config files replaced with versions again containing the same wrong code.
Even tried it the hard way, starting Studio, doing a quick test print, closing it - the files still had the correct values.
So why is Studio replacing the config files for no reason and where does it get the wrong access code from ?
No matter if I edit the config files or enter the code in Studio to pair the printer - won’t take long to get lost and be replaced with a wrong code, the always same wrong code.
And yes, I installed Studio from scratch several times, including manually deleting all leftovers on the drive and in the registry - did not fix the issue.
All I want is a working printer, not a damn software unable to keep an access code in place…
Edit: Some live testing revealed Studio saves the wrong code every time I close Studio but also after some time while running.
Even with the config files having the correct values for the access code Studio keeps messing them up.
I tried going back to the earlier version [1.10.0.89] and it reinstalled the network plug in. That worked for few times but today I cannot get work anymore. And I cannot get the reconnection with access code routine to work either. I does not recognize the SN code.
Basically I am shut down in Christmas selling season! Come on Bambu get it fixed.
Was happy to see the big print finished over night.
Until I decided to use the saved Gcode file to print it again.
Sorry Bambu, but using the flimsy controller to find a model within god knows how many files just sucks.
Studio opened, Studio even connected to the printer but it wouldn’t let me send the Gcode file to the printer.
Loaded the 3MF, sliced it again, doubled checked the settings and Studio told me there is no printer connected.
Was just there you stupid piece of code!!!
Time to go hardcore…
Of course the config file again reverted back to this wrong code that was replaced for reasons only Bambu might know.
Fixed that, saved the file and then made it READ-ONLY.
Will see if that helps Studio to remember the correct code…
Yes, I know this method sucks as Studio won’t be able to save config changes - but for now I prefer that over the never ending code hassle.
Give LAN only users the option to go without this access code and forced pairing, will you please !!???
I don’t have that problem, maybe I shouldn’t complain…
Printers show up fine in Studio, just keep loosing the access code, or well, Studio does.
Printer not showing up with the printer showing it is connected to the network could mean a busted network plugin.
If you can’t remove and reinstall it:
Rename or copy the Bambu folder in the user folder and the app folder on your windows drive.
Install Studio again with the defaults.
This should fix the network plugin if there is an issue as well as config issues.
If your X1’s show up you close Studio and copy over your custom files and settings to get going again.
Bad workaround, I know but it works if the Studio or plugin installation got stuffed up.
Quick update : Studio still works with the printer…
A dew hours now and longer the average of the last few days.
Also just closed without warning twice - the crashed project was restored though when I opened Studio again.
I did not change anything in Studio that is listed in the config file, just printed things.
Remove the write protect from the BAK file and after the next unannounced closure I found it with a new time stamp and containing all values of the original, including the correct access code.
No clue why Studio would have to write the config file every time it closes and at seemingly random while running.
Once this big print is done I will do some more digging through the files to find the access code mentioned.
Also might remove the write protection again to see whether or not Studio now has correct code store permanently - at least until the next refresh.
If this old and wrong code does show up again I copy the entire Bambu folders into a ram disk to do a hex search for this code in all files until I find the source of it somewhere…
I have been having this problem for 3 weeks now. I detailed it in the Bambu Studio Bug Reporting Thread
Today is a typical day: the printers showed up for about 3 hours, then lost the connection and asked for the access code for one of the printers. I entered the access code twice and the Studio crashed. When I restored the Studio the printers were no longer there.
The wifi signal on the printers is strong while the signal as shown on the Studio is too weak.
I may try to find some workaround, but I am not the only one having the connection problem so I think it’s up to Bambu Studio to find out why and fix it.
It seems ( for now anyway ) that it is working here.
Steps I did:
Uninstalled Studio.
Manually deleted all leftovers in the Registry and on the drive.
Removed the network driver.
Clean reboot.
Doubled checked that IE, Edge and Webview has suffient internet/network access.
Installed the latest 1.10 Studio version and let it install the network driver.
Right after and before even starting Studio I checked the config file and added the access code.
Started Studio, went straight to LAN only mode, connected to the printer and who would have though - it worked.
I left the computer on till about midday and Studio open - did not loose the connection to complain about the access code.
Shut down the computer for a few hours and this evening decided to do another print - that was about 3 hours ago and all is still working.
I did some more digging on the issue, both on the WWW and my computer setup before I uninstalled Studio.
There are quite a few things on my end that the average users would not have.
Like an active firewall on the computer AND the router, doing all online stuff strictly through a VPN, having hardware based encrypted drives, …
But all that never was an issues once I configured everything for a new program.
It was the last forced access code change that created the mess.
Studio worked for a day after this but in all fairness I left the computer and the camera feed on.
After that the nightmare began.
Considering that at first Studio had no issues connecting but kept loosing the access code I thought the manual adding of it in the config file would do the trick.
However: At least three times this code was replaced when Studio shut down with an old access code that I still can’t find anywhere but I think the registry cleanup and manually deleting all leftovers from Studio fixed that.
The other issues is the ongoing connection drop outs despite the Wifi signal on the printer not changing and showing surprisingly good signal strength.
For this I blame the network plugin for several reasons:
It is rather cumbersome to find this plugin and the uninstall/delete it.
This plugin is not really need !
Several ‘user hacks’ already showed that we can access the printer basically the same way Studio does.
Only problem is that including the certificates that Bambu uses is a real pain in the butt.
Means we are basically limited to FTP stuff unless you want to go hardcore.
There seems to be neither a comprehensive documentation nor anything explaining what this plugin does available - at least not for me.
I suspect the plugin is nothing more than a collection of command related stuff to make it very easy for Bambu to send commands while also monitoring the printer.
So rather than Studio doing it all manually, like we would, it just sends a command to the plugin followed by what is supposed to happen.
The only times when I have seen such things is with dongles, like for the old K40 lasers and other Chinaware.
I will keep an eye on things and report back if Studio messes things up again…
