I would find it useful when submitting a print, to specify other colours of the same quality filament can be substituted if the printer runs out of filament.
I frequently have parts that maybe I start in black, but I have some gray or white filament in the AMS, and I would be fine with just switching to those colours during the print.

Are you using bambu filament when doing this? I did this previously with a project, but they were not bambu filaments. I just had to change the “color” in the ams so they all were the same, and it just pulled from the next one when it ran out. Not sure id you can do with bambu filaments though because of the rfid tag.

Would probably be nice if you could do that with a simple configuration, but you can still trick the system into doing it anyways. You just need to configure your backup filament with the same filament type and color and it’ll auto-refill.

I am using Bambu filament, but that does seem like a rigmarole to change the colours, then remember to change them back again after a print.
I will try that, but it seems like a common enough use case it should be in the software.
