Sudden bed adhesion failures

So after hours and months of printing, consistently wiping the bed with ISO alcohol after each print, nothing wants to stick all of a sudden. I’ve never had this many failures with either of my Bambu printers. No issues with my P1S…anyone else? What was the fix? I’ve tried cleaning the plate with warm water and soap, drying then printing…failure…wiping with alcohol…failure. I am using the same filament I always use. Using OEM PEI plate by the way.

Give the bed a good rub down with steel wool. If that does not help, keep in mind that they are consumables.

What are you wiping the alcohol with?
You don’t mention it, so it can’t be assumed you’ve releveled and recalibrated the printer. If not, then start there.

If you’re wiping with a cloth, try using paper towels. I’ve found that a cloth can transfer whatever detergent residue it has on it, or fabric softener residue. Sounds silly, but I’ve found better results with paper towels.

Have always used paper towels. Yeah, I think I’ll recalibrate it

I’ll keep that in mind. Printer is about 8 months old, so I can’t imagine having to replace it already.

I’m having a similar issue and my A1 is less than a week old. Worked great from tuesday until today (sunday), and the last few times i have tried to print with white filament, it wont stick. No it’s black lol.

I have encountered a similar situation before, and my solution was to carefully wash it three times with dishwashing detergent, which greatly improved the situation.

Additionally, different manufacturers filaments may have different adhesion properties.

Something to also consider is your room temperature, the northern hem is getting cooler and these issues are going to feature while down under we’re going to hit clogging extruders

That said, scouring your plate can sometimes give a new lease. I recently done my 2k hour textured plate with a light sanding and its amazing

Thanks that tip. All my filament is the same manufacturer. I just flipped it over and black printed fine but white had the adhesion issues. Trying gray now. Fingers crossed. lol after this I’ll call it a night and give it a wash tomorrow.

Hi All. new A1 mini user.

What is the best way to clean the bed? do I use just a dishwasher detergent as mentioned above, do should I be cleaning with Alcohol after each print?

Welcome to the forum! Everywhere you go on the internet people will tell you to use alcohol but in my experience dish soap will get the job done every time. I take them to the sink, scrub both sides, rinse them good and dry them using lint free shop towels. I use those blue sponges so even the “rough” side isn’t rough enough to damage anything. Try not to touch the build area during the whole process. You’ll be able to get lots of prints out of them before it’s time to do it again. But the first time you notice the first layer isn’t sticking, you’ll know it’s time.

Great, thanks for the advice.

Get a laser temperature gun and measure the temperature of the bed at printing temperature. It could be lower than what it is supposed to be. Mine shows up to 10 degrees below where it should be, but it varies all over the print bed. I have no idea yet as to why the temps are off. Lately, I’ve had PLA prints popping off or sliding off and wrecking the print.
