One of my problems is the printer doesn’t give us ANY audio alert if it runs into a problem and the app doesn’t inform us unless we are actively using the app.
What should happen IMO is we should have an option to allow the printer to beep once in a while if something causes the print to stop outside of a pause. And we should get a notification.
100%. Not only that, it should be up to the user to opt out in the app. It’s just, for those of us coming from other printers like the Prusa MK3. This is a must
Last week I lost maybe 3 or 4 hours of print time due to there being no way of knowing if there is a problem unless if you actively look at the printer.
This is totally irrelevant to the post, people should be able to use their product the best way without the companion app, also this is not like the printer firmware would need to be entirely rewriten, it’s a simple addition
I 100% agree, I have had the printer sitting there for hours only to find out it ran out of filament or it couldn’t extrude. My guess is their notification servers are bogged down and adding trouble notifications on top of canceled/finished notifications would melt them. I have noticed prints that are completed during the daylight hours have notifications delayed by about 5-6 min, whereas prints that are completed at night get notifications almost immediately.
I had noticed that while my x1c, p1p, and p1s machines all send me notifications via the bambu handy app the a1 has never sent me any notifications. I wonder why that is? I had an issue that really wasn’t an issue when the a-1 ran out of silk black during a print (i knew it would) and it would have been nice to have known when it did even though i had to wait for the p1s to finish its print so I could move that roll of black silk over to the a1 since my shipment of filament doesn’t arrive until next week and I wasnt home to swap it out anyways.
I hope its a feature they can turn on in the future.
yes i get alerts on my phone with the x and p series printers, all of them however i get no notifications at all on the app with the a1. It does however have a message in the devices tab yet i receive no push notification like i do with the other machines.
So im wondering why that is. Are they all this way? Is it because I purchased the printer from Micro Center? I dont know.
Normally I would have to order from bambu and have it shipped due to the fact that the nearest Micro Center is 300 miles away however I was in Dallas last week picking up a large resin printer (commercial) and figured since I was going to buy an A1 anyways id just pick one up and browse their selection of filament since again there isnt anywhere near me that sells any 3d printing materials, at all.
It may not be an issue though because im now seeing videos this evening that Bambu has asked its influencers on youtube to ask their audience to stop using the A1 entirely due to the bed cable issue, that i didnt hear about until this morning because i didnt get any emails from either micro center or bambu labs. I think it sounds like im at least going to have to wait for an updated cable/bed assembly because im not ok with the potential risk to my shop full of equipment. I was in the process of printing the cable strain relief file while watching youtube videos and just stopped the print and shut it off.
And again no push notification like i would have gotten had i stopped a print on any of the other bambu printers yet there was a notification in the devices tab.
It has nothing to do with this. I bought mine directly from the company.
What I meant is, does the printer itself play an audio thing when a problem comes up. On my Prusa MK3 when it ran into a problem it would beep once in a while. Sadly there was no way to opt out if you wanted. But, 99.9999% of the time I wanted it on because it quickly alerted me something is wrong. I want SOME indication that something is up on the printer itself that something is wrong.
Sadly there is no notification when the printer has an issue or runs out of filament, only a pop up on the screen and Studio if its running. As far as the app, the only option we have is when a job completes and those are delayed about 6 minutes. I also get notified if i cancel a job, which is not listed but never if there is a jam, a filament runout, or the new air printing.
I am pretty sure there is no audio tone for faults. When I first got it I wanted to run a multi color print and position 3 failed to feed, a lot. I’d only notice when looking over the print racks and see the red arrow on the AMS lite blinking. That’s the only error I had. I also had an issue with the machine where it would layer shift on the x axis on color change. I’ve done 6 multi color prints and 3 of them have layer shifted. One of them was after nearly 2 days of running near the end of the print which really honked me off. The other 2 were pretty early in the print run but the next 2 have been flawless. I’ve had no issues with single color prints.
