I decided to try out the support filament that came with my printers. When I sliced it, the print time went from 3 hours to 17. Thats insane, or am I missing something?
Time to change the filament. How many changes do you have, a few hundred?
Each filament switch adds better than a minute to the print time. So they can really add up. But because you’re printing with a dedicated support filament, the quality of your overhangs will be substantially better, which means you can orient your model differently and try to find an orientation that requires fewer support switches.
I bet if you mess with orientation you can reduce the number of switches and so, the print time. But printing with supports will always add time to the print.
Do you print the complete support with support filament?
Support filament should only be used for the top layers of support (as in the picture)
Thanks - I just noticed that. Still gets me to 7 hours but that’s even better.
Can I also ask why my printer sliced to 60 hours and slowly added time adding up to almost 79 hours
