Ironing works PERFECTLY if the supports do their job, and given that you have adequate number of layers to solidify before reaching the ironing phase.
Ιf your ironing fails, it means your supports didnt do their job, ESPECIALLY if you are using support material, which means top-z is 0.
Its not the ironing that ruins the supports, its the other way around. Try to use a slicer that generates PROPER supports and youll find you an iron as much as you want.
