I used the default settings for Galaxy PLA and had an absolute heck of a time getting the supports off, I basically had to cut them off. Before I go through the usual trial-and-error process for finding the right settings I thought I’d check here. If anyone has good support settings for Galaxy PLA please let me know, thanks!
There are several things that can be done. Would you kindly upload a screengrab of the sliced model so that we can see what you are doing now?
I suspect that you may be using the default supports. You can mitigate the “clinginess” of the supports in one of two ways, change to tree supports or increase the X/Y distance. Again, uploading a sliced model will allow for higher quality answer that is specific to your use-case.
I’m using tree supports on the 0.16 “Optimal” profile, haven’t touched any of the other settings. I’m aware of the ways to adjust the supports, and have done so in the past, but I was hoping someone else who has already gone through the trial and error might be willing to share their settings.
Do you have an AMS? That would allow you to ise PETG in the interface for easier removal.
I do, but the model is complex enough that using another filament for the support interface would require a lot of filament changes, and probably tripling the amount of time it takes to print.
That is the compromise with the support interface material. As @Olias pointed out, if you are stuck to a single material print, there are then limited options. Support type, Z-distance, Top interface distance and interface type are settings at a global level that can be tweaked per print but a view of the model could help.
