Support W in wrong place?

Using latest studio and the Support W interface is appearing part way down

support - not at the support/model interface. Is this a known issue or do I have something wrong in the settings?

Are those regular tree supports or slim tree supports ?

The Slim ones. Didnt think about that. Retried with no to the adjust and those come out OK, so looks like the SLIM algorithm is wrong.

I think the interface is there by design with slim in order to make removal easier and cleaner

Hybrid tree supports with a .2mm gap for XY and Z contacts works very nice for me, still a bit tight so removal on prints with lots of support takes a bit more effort but no scaring and excellent support on larger overhangs

I think i must be misunderstanding somewhere. My issue is the Support W is half way down the support. Not at the top of each support. since the whole point of support w is to make it cleaner to remove from the model, this wont achieve that regardless of the size of the trees.

I’m the one misunderstanding, sorry about that

Honestly I don’t know what support W is, then again I’m still learning Bambu Studio

It’s close to Prusa Slicer but still different, and is nothing like Cura or Super Slicer

Little things like the support branch angle is backwards from what I’m used to with PS or Cura

Support W is the OEM Bambu Lab support filament for PLA.

It only prints a thin layer of the Support W filament between the part and the support legs. This allows for an easy break between the support and the part. Originally I had thought it would be printing all of the supports, but that mean filament changes at every layer and would slow things down considerably.

So in his instance it seems as though the Support W is not slicing correctly and is printing it halfway down the trees instead of next to the part.

Learned something today. Thank you everyone for explaining how this stuff works. My BL Support spool is still in the package.

I would say the OP needs to open a ticket with tech support and send the sliced filet to them.
