Surface print issue

Hi I’m perplexed at what’s going on here on a conical cylinder. I’ve never encountered this before. Model was created in Fusion 360.

A1
PLA .6 nozzle,
2 walls
Standard settings

The issue shows up in same position on multiple attempts to fix.

I did a test cylinder with straight walls… looks good
I did a test cube…looks good
I did the same model in Vase mode…looks good.
I updated studio software…same issue again

I don’t have an A1, so I am not sure if this is the issue, but in my experience when I see something like that it is a cooling issue. It looks like the filament is moving around more than expected because it is not cooling in the place where it was printed and expected to be.

Thanks Bill. Hmmm In theory this could be something to look at. It keeps happening on the same side of the print. The .6 nozzle does push out more plastic and it’s a small circumference. It could be a scenario to reduce the fan output. It’s only a 20 degree slope. Why would the vase mode print this perfect though with a single wall ,you would think it would be more susceptible to cooling issues.

I have updated Studio Software to latest, lubricated all axis, tensioned all belts, ran full calibration. Same result.

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I think you need more cooling. I think the layer is not cooling fast enough and falling out of place before it cools enough to stay in place.

It may come down to speed at that point. Vase mode is probably moving slower than when it prints normally. You might look at reducing wall speed?

Thank you. I’ll try to play with the cooling. I swapped out the .6 nozzle for .4 nozzle on the same model and it printed perfect.
