I know there’s some logic to how Bambu assigns AMS labels, but trying to always hook mine up in that order whenever I have to do some maintenance seems like an unnecessary pain in the butt.
You can see from this image of my H2D’s screen that my 2x AMS 2 Pros and 2x AMS HT’s labels are opposite. Everything is hooked up the way I want it, I just want to change the label of my AMS 2 Pros so that the AMS unit hooked up to the left nozzle is AMS A.
I have my AMS 2 Pros mounted next to each. I have my AMS HTs mounted next to each other. It makes sense to my brain that everything on the left = A and everything on the right is B. That’s how the HTs are setup by default/accident, but the 2 Pros are opposite. They’re connected to the correct nozzle, but assigned the wrong label. How do I switch the label? I thought I saw somewhere you could do this from within the H2D menu or slicer, but I’m not seeing it now.
My ideal is:
Left AMS 2 Pro = AMS-A
Left AMS HT = AMS HT-A
Both connected to left nozzle.
Right AMS 2 Pro = AMS-B
Right AMS HT = AMS HT-B
Both connected to right nozzle.
You do it by disconnecting the 6-pin cable from printer and connecting them in the order that you want. First one connected to printer will be A, then B, C etc.
Also when you use the drying function, all four will be arranged on the screen in the order you connect them.
You’ll have to reset all you AMSs and re-connect them in the right order otherwise the AMS ID assigned at first connection will never change. It is a PIA so the best way (what I did) is simply to disconnect PTFEs and 6-pin connectors and reverse your AMS2 and AMS HT and reconnect, it is a lot easier and faster.
Thanks for the feedback. So dumb that there’s not a firmware way to do this and instead have to do this with physical rearranging. I cut the PTFEs in such a way that simply reattaching those is not ideal. It will work, but I’d prefer to leave the PTFE tubes attached to the AMS units as they are right now. There’s probably enough length to swap the 2 AMS 2 Pro’s though.
I think I can figure out a way to get this setup, but if I have to always be mindful of the order I connect them, that’s just dumb and inefficient. It would be far better to be able to assign my own labels, even if the H2D using some other (hidden) label for them on the backend.
Don’t move your PTFEs and 6-pin cables, just physically move your AMSs. It’s not the cable ports that get the ID but the AMSs themselves. If an AMS has been assigned A it will always be A whether it’s the 1st, 2nd or 6th in the chain (unless you reset them all in AMS menu and re-arrange).
Adding this here just in case someone finds themselves in the same situation. An ‘Arrange AMS Order’ feature was added under Settings→AMS Options. Leave all AMS units connected while confirming the reset, then disconnect them and reconnect in the order you want them identified.
