I live in tropical region and humidity here is off the roof.! Hence, I look for some way to tap into the power for AMS to run some small fans so that the desilicant works faster. Looking at the guides, I saw that there is a JST connector inside. It should be 24V line right? Anyone done something similar before can tell me which is +/-?
Better yet, has anyone done this specific mod before?
Be aware if you try this, your warranty will almost certainly be voided.
There is no public information to suggest any connectors are available for third-party usage. Where such options have been made available p, they are documented.
The connectors on the back of the small breakout PCB are JST SH 1mm for 4-pin data, and JST XH 2.5mm for 2-pin power. I don’t know off the top of my head which is + and -, but you’re not planning on doing anything like this without a multimeter, are you?
The XH connectors that you’re asking about are super common, you can get a bunch of pre-crimped pigtails on Amazon for a couple of bucks.
For completeness’ sake, the AMS cable connectors themselves are Molex MicroFit 3.0 (they actually look like a 3rd party variant, but are fully compatible, including keying.)
Certainly not, I’m looking for similar project done by others to have kind of a head start. It seems no one did so I’ll figure it out. Thanks for the info.
I am aware of the risks. I just prefer a mod that does not require putting holes into the AMS like others.
