Tape at the end of spool

In all fairness Bambu is not the only vendor with struggles, although most long fixed these spool issues.
My main supplier here in AU is Siddament and their spools and refills work just fine.
If you don’t want to calibrate like mad you just download their filament profiles and it works as great as Bambu filament.
But I had my fair share of nightmares…
Starting with various tape ‘solutions’, going over to filament pushed through a hole to also being folded over - all the way to plastic clips used the secure the end of the filament…

About a year ago I had a lengthy exchange with shop seller on AliExpress.
Used them because the filament (in bulk) was dirt cheap and even with the added postage and shipping costs came down to around $12AU for the PLA rolls.
My problem was a very sticky tape at the end of the filament.
They did it ‘smart’, just flat on the side of the inner wall with the filament going straight through it.
SHOULD have just pulled out but instead it pulled off the spool.
The nice man explained in great detail the struggles of winding up filament in a factory setting.
Not the problem of doing it but doing it so it works in the printer.
Going through holes can leave a kink which most systems won’t be able to pull through.
They tried a ton of tapes he said to avoid this…
But the feedback, not just from me made them change their system once more.
Was offered a nice discount for the next order in the form of a coupon but shipping costs went too high.
Anyway, their new system now works like a flap.
On the core is a spared out area where the filament goes in, then the ‘flap’ goes over and all is secured by the next turn going right over it.
Not sure if this might be THE solution to the problem but I guess it is a good start.

With Siddament I sometimes still get spools where the end of the filament is kinked over to stay on the spool.
But at least for PLA this bit keeps breaking off, either on the spool or once it reaches the motor hub in the AMS.
With the Bambu carboard cores I tried to secure some filament leftovers with slots I cut out.
Just a slot a bit smaller than the filament, pressed in and a few loops on top.
Holds nice and comes off nice.
Maybe Bambu will work out something that works reliable soon.
In the main time I guess a lot of people would appreciate if the taped spools would come with note or mark on them to make users aware…
