So I received an email this morning and wasn’t sure if it was fake or not since it included everyone’s email addresses within the chain… But turns out it was real!
So reading the disclaimer at the bottom I cannot post a picture of the email but I can state what it was in regards to.
By the looks of it some users that responded to [Maker Supply] with feedback on what they should add/ or are missing in the store. Well they’re rewarding those people with [2] randomly selected kits! @Kit_Craftersfingers crossed to get yours man!
This is an awesome way to showcase those designs and the hardwork put into them plus supply some of us with the hardware to potentially use for our own projects!! @MakerWorld Thank you for the reward and looking forward to putting it to use psst
“wish I knew what I was getting so I could print the parts beforehand…”
Congratulations to everyone else that received the same email!
However, the excuse that it was a configuration error is clearly not true.
No mass mailing system would EVER utilise the To line for addresses. I know, I have written a few.
This was evidently sent from employee’s email account which should never be allowed.
Yet again, this is about honesty, or more correctly the lack of it.
The email should have said…
Due to an unfortunate human error an email we sent shared personal information, specifically email addresses with every recipient.
We will learn from this and put steps in place to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
OWN UP TO PROBLEMS.
Honesty isn’t a dirty word.
I would be happier (not happy) if they were actually honest about the data leak rather than pretending it was out of their control.
