The $80 can only be applied to a new printer

So I finally got an answer to the question on if the $80 can be applied to anything in the store or just a new printer.

A few things to keep in mind

  • Those who bought from Microcenter ended up getting their discount automatically
  • Those who bought directly from the site have to wait a month. 2-3 weeks before they get it, then 2 weeks to get their next printer. This is assuming there is no delay in getting the discount code.
  • Those who bought directly and then bought another to prevent the gap. They end up getting screwed on this deal.

Other things to keep in mind

  • When microcenter buys printers they pay wholesale or maybe BL rents space. But in both cases by default direct customers make them WAY more money than using 3rd party services.
  • Most of us ended up upgrading. Which means they again made a lot more money off of us.

Hopefully they change this policy.

I reckon if it is clear that you have bought a new BL printer since the recall then they should credit the $80 back to the order. I get it that they might wish to restrict people from getting a full refund and a further credit.

I’m one of the ones who waited to order until everything is sorted… just wish they would get a move on.

What would be the point of the $80 if you have no printer to spend it on ?

I’m confused by your question.

Here is what happen.

  • Those who bought from Microcenter was able to use the $80 discount right then as they refunded their printer. That is if they bought a new printer.
  • Those of us who bought directly from the site has to ship our printer back which could take 2 or 3 weeks, they inspect it (IDK how long that takes), then they give us the $80, then we order, and now we have to wait another 2 weeks to get the printer. This means we are out of a printer for a full month if we bought directly and used this code.
  • Those of us who bought directly does the same above, but to make it where there is no gap we end up getting screwed since we had to get the new printer before getting the discount so we don’t have to deal with the gap.

And then keep this in mind

  • When microcenter buys printers they pay wholesale or maybe BL rents space. But in both cases by default direct customers make them WAY more money than using 3rd party services.
  • Most of us ended up upgrading. Which means they again made a lot more money off of us.

Like to limit the $80 to a new printer seems like pure greed and a massive oversight. Hopefully they change this policy.

Choice is refund + $80 discount towards new more expensive printer say the P1 (cheapest or nearest price wise to the A1 combo)
second choice is take the refund and run , what you going to spend the $80 on in the bambu store ? (majority of users dont have a need for more than one hobby printer)
third choice in my opinion, is heres $120 inconvienience discount to spend on your printer in the bambu store
(The discount towards more expensive printer being asked for by users of the forum)

This is how i looked at it
you get the cake and get to eat it
you get the cake
you get a second slice of cake , in that order

Well I took the 120.00 option and I might just buy another A1 with it, Think about it 399.00 minus 120.00 and I already have the AMS Lite and spare parts. 279.00 for that printer is a steal. As this platform matures there will be upgrades and mods. Even if it doesn’t I’ll have spare parts for every piece and that is cheaper than buying them ala cart

Yeah I wished I’d done this now, as being without a printer is worse than just dealing with the A1 printer bed mod. You live and learn.

Oh that’s a bummer; I also hope Bambu Lab will change it so that the $80 can be spent towards anything in the store. In agreement with the other folks here

You don’t have to buy a more expensive printer! You can buy any printer they sell! I returned the A1 and got the A1 Mini. I came out $250 ahead!

I don’t think that will happen that you can buy a BL printer before you ship yours back and then have the $80 applied to your purchase as a refund. I would think you have to wait until after they get yours and send you your store credit and then you can buy a new one.

I dont recall typing they had to

you got your money back, which isnt coming out ahead , but nice.
