ams lite can mount to top i just put mine up, it must be your machine in particular i have done some almost max capacity builds with no artifacts on the z axis. I sold off my cr10 S5 to buy this machine so i know alot about z axis stability with a 500mm x500mm build area. i needed 3ft space for that bed to sling lol
Perhaps its the table you have it on? I also printed and added the back stability brackets for mine when i moved ams lite to top mount
i assume you meant z hop rather than x hop
as for the ams lite i have not had any issues… of course i love my p1p more but as you stated the price point is great for such a nice printer.
Basically a completely unnecessary risk I’m unwilling to take. Far too much to lose to risk it all over a hobby (toy) printer.
I’d imagine insurance companies having a number in mind and, up to that number, they’d be willing to let you “go legal” on them and fight your claim. I know from past experiences that they definitely have such a system for other claims and if you don’t know your rights they’ll do everything they can to make you just give up and go away.
I have print farm in a dedicated commercial building with multiple printers on commercial steel racks, which are pretty solid. I’m aware you can mount the AMS lite on top but the rack it’s on is set up for has a p1s with AMS mounted on top that I have to kinda scoot the AMS out to change filaments. The AMS lite won’t fit on top in that space so it has to sit on the side.
Like I said I suspect that both the A1 and the AMS lite have a specific issue. I’m not sure what remedy I have for the one position that fails to load on the AMS lite as it’s likely the feed motor but I suspect increasing z hop height from .4 to .8 may solve the issue on the A1. I have seen in these forums posts about both issues so while it’s not a widely huge problem they do exists with the a1 and the a1 mini. It also seems like a lot of folks have more issues with multi color printing. I suspect there is likely some firmware/hardware issues that occur with some off the shelf components. And it’s likely that the issue could be addressed in a future firmware update.
It may not be an issue anymore since it appears that my only options with microcenter for my machine is a direct exchange for a new A1 combo and $120 microcenter gift card or full refund and $120 microcenter gift card. The question is do I do the exchange or return and get another p1s combo.
Honestly I really wish that Bambu had released their new gen larger printer because the choice would be easy since I’m really itching to get another large printer but have been holding off. I recently decided to order a rat rig 500 but there are none available due to them discontinuing the v3 and the development of the v4. So that’s likely not a short term solution since they have a wait list for the v4 and the v3 is out of stock.
Im on the fence what I’ll ultimately do, I have pluses and minuses for either choice. I just have to choose and move forward.
someone here in AZ has a ratrig 500 up for sale for $800 after owning the cr10 s5 i know its a huge space taker of course they are 2 different machines but i sold my cr10 for $800 if this rat rig would have been up at that time i would have instantly bought it as an upgrade lol
I got my eye on the sovol s08 unless Bambu drops their new one before i get to the point of my next big purchase
I’ve just been on the FCC website and there are no new filings from Bambulab except for what appears to be a wireless charger. I wouldn’t be hopeful for any new printers as they would have to be submitting all of the documentation, testing, etc.
Perhaps - but the paperwork would have to be on the FCC website if there is any sort of network connection involving WiFi, etc months ahead of time. They don’t apply for certification one week and start shipping the next week.
6-7 months… and perhaps the design is already there, they are just making it bigger…? probably doesnt matter to you anyhow as you wrote off ever buying their product again in other thread.
I love mine and have only had good experiences but I also have my eye on that sv08
Im not brand loyal, just if it works and is proven to be good, loyal
Since Bambu no longer will supply microcenter with replacement beds and the only option is a return or exchange, information on that here Bambu Lab A1 3D Printer Recall Information - Micro Center, on a whim I did a search for a rat rig 500 in the Dallas area. Sure enough I found one 30 minutes away from Dallas micro center with lots of extras for 1200.00.
I negotiated a deal with the guy and at leaving in the morning to pick up the rat rig v3.1 500 since I will now be required to drive the 300 miles to exchange/return the A1 and I do t want to “waste” that trip. I will likely return the A1 and will get another p1s combo since I still get the 120 microcenter gift card. I’ll have to fork over a little over 300 bucks to move from the A1 combo to the p1s combo but having another printer that will do asa and ABS as well as it being core xy is a no brainer, even my wife prefers we not exchange and get another p1s. She feels like the a1 has wasted too much filament knocking parts off the build plate. And since it’s technically for our printing business anything that’s going to lower waste cost in her mind is the way to go.
I was going to order a rat rig 500 but the v3 is discontinued and sold out and there is a wait list for the v4 so buying second hand is our only option. I will say the v4 looks like a really good deal and rat rig claims they are releasing an AMS system for the rat rig v4 at a later date for use in all 3 variants. I’m kinda interested to see how they deal with an AMS with the IDEX version.
I didn’t get the Microcenter email, but that was because the cashier didn’t scan the correct barcode at purchase. I took my remaining A1 back and Microcenter graciously refunded my full cost and still gave me the $120 gift card to make up for BL horrendous handling of this.
BL finally answered my support ticket… 11 days after my reply asking for an update, only to tell me that they were washing their hands of it and to talk to Microcenter. This was after approving my claim and assuring me for 3 months that they would send the heatbed.
So, A1 is gone. 3 P1Ss I purchased after the recall listed on FB Marketplace. 2 sold and last one likely to be gone by the weekend. They’ll be replaced with Prusa printers.
Well played BL. You threw away a good customer who isn’t shy with his wallet.
Mine has been returned to microcenter and replaced with a p1s combo. While I was in the Dallas area I looked on Facebook marketplace and lo and behold a rat rig vcore 3.1 500 happened to be on sale just a 30 minute drive from microcenter. I did not come home empty handed.
I will say that while the rat rig needs a lot more user input the print speed and quality match Bambu once profiles and bed meshes and x offset are set up. Took about a day of fiddling to get it dialed in. I still need to enclose it and add a runout sensor but overall im happy. Now to get some big rolls of filament in because this thing eats 1kg spools like they are nothing. It’s also nice to not have to cut files that only lack fitting in the Bambu build volume by a small fraction, mostly on the z.
If and when Bambu gets motivated to release a larger printer im not going to be chomping at the bit to get one right away, though I may still get one eventually. I keep contemplating a QUDI tech max 3 only because it’s a good size with an active heated chamber. Which is likely something I need to consider adding to the rat rig due to the massive volume of space that needs heated.
I haven’t given up on Bambu but they should have handled the recall differently and I’ll leave it at that. It almost feels like you have to buy from them to get support for your printer. An inconvenience if you live near a reseller but a financial burden if you live quite far away since you physically have to return the item or work out a way to ship it and pay the cost out of pocket. Never mind the lengthy response times and near radio silence coupled with updated printers available for sale while those that have waited for replacement beds are still waiting.
Very large spread of reviews with Bambu Labs that’s for sure. I’ve had a rollercoaster of emotions with them in the past 14 months. They have the best intentions but a lack of general support. I’ll still be here til the end of the era though. I’ve only had 1 of their printers die on me which had to be returned and replaced by them and at their cost.
We’re actually debating pulling the trigger on the new A1 as it’s sitting in the cart with an additional $120 in accessories… But what’s most reliving is the fact it’s probably their best made product due to what happend.
Well it looks like the severe power issues are returning as I’ve been waiting for 5 weeks for support to help me with my malfunctioning voltage power problem.
Please someone for bambu help me. I’ve uploaded my logs, taken detailed pictures , replied to every request and no one’s helping me anymore. I’ve been trying to get help since the beginning of November.
