From having similar issues when I owned the A1… I found that if I had bambu studio open on a PC, I could not view the camera feed on bambu handy app.
Not sure if this is the case with you

Odd, I had an A1 and now have a P1P with another A1 Mini on the way. the ONLY time I had an issue with the camera on the app was if I was connected to public or corporate wireless. Most of the time they will throttle streaming or reduce the guest wireless to some mediocre bandwidth suitable for web browsing only. I have proven this by simply disconnecting from wireless, exiting the app, and relaunching.
after updating the latest firmware, camera works fine whatever you use moble app or PC app。the response is very quick.
Constant errors with this and wifi connectivity in general since updating. I’d say i hope for a new firmware update but i don’t think i would even be able to connect to wifi to download it.
Here are a few troubleshooting steps anyone with issues with the camera can try.
Are you on wireless? if so, are you on the same network as the printer? The printer runs on 2.4Ghz and most home routers prefer to connect you to the 5Ghz network unless you are that far away from it. Click wireless settings on the phone and select your 2.4Ghz network. If your router is newer and has the 2.4Ghz and the 5Ghz networks blended where it manages the connections for you, you may be able to go into the router admin page and enable separate SSIDs, one for each network. Luckily my primary router provided by my ISP has been updated and detects the network the device is requesting, so garage door openers, printers, and other devices that require 2.4Ghz are auto-connected to 2.4.
Still having issues with Wireless? disconnect from wireless altogether and connect to your 4G or 5G cellphone-provided network. This will remove your home network from the equation altogether. Close and relaunch the app to create a fresh connection. Press PLAY. You MUST PRESS PLAY for the camera to start! I have seen people sitting there waiting for it to auto-play…Your camera should now be playing.
Still having issues and want to rule out your phone? Turn on the mobile hotspot on your phone or anyone else’s phone in your house and from your COMPUTER, connect to the phone’s hotspot. Now we are ruling out the home network and the processing power of the phone. Open Bambu Slicer, click device and again press PLAY. The camera should start playing.
If the camera displays even one frame it is working.
The camera works but the led never turns on. I don’t know if there is a setting for the led. If room is bright it looks ok
Not sure if it’s been taken care of, but I couldn’t use my camera for the longest time until I discovered there was a cover over it from shipping. It’s on the right side of the Z-bar arm.
Same here. It worked for the first few prints and now it never lights up.
Is it some kind of setting that I messed with by mistake, or should I send my printer back ?
Same for me, it is getting quite annoying especially as the unit is in a dark room!
I hope it is jus an user error and someone will tell me that I am stupid and should just change that obvious setting…
November 2024 here. I just assembled my AI today. The camera turned on and took ONE DANG PICTURE when I turned it on and went through the settings but hasn’t worked since. For a while on each print it never updated the picture. It kept showing the same picture. Now the camera is black, dead as a doornail. Never shows anything.
I too am extremely annoyed but not surprised at all. Every review and unboxing said the camera is worthless, useless waste of money and time, don’t even bother to use it. I knew it wouldn’t work so I was ready for it. Will probably buy a cheap camera or rig up an old iPhone I have lying around.
I just got my first Bambu A1. I set up the printer on the 2.4GHz WiFi and can send prints to it just fine. But I have never gotten the camera to work. I am getting a weird error message though. I have turned off the printer and checked the cable that plugged in underneath and it all seems good. Has anyone see this message before?
Ive upgraded to the latest firmware and I am able to send prints wirelessly to it so my internet connection is good.
Exact same issue as I am experiencing.
Still looking fir a solution, besides external camera.
Same here. The camera on my A1 has literally never worked. Not one frame. I use a wyze cam setup now but still occasionally check on the a1 cam just to see if it might be working… nada. GL
l’image de ma camera est vraiment très mauvaise imposssible d’y voir quelque choses juste des photos qui défile doucement
I just had this problem of “Printer camera is malfunctioning” today on my A1 Mini.
My A1 next door didn’t have this problem, so I ruled out a firmware problem or something.
So my first instinct was to check the connector on the bottom of the camera, and bingo!
Late response but if it helps
The camera is frustrating, and personally I think they either need to ditch it, improve it, or provide means of upgrading. My situation is I need to place the printer in a closet to protect it from 2 very nosey cats, so I have to rely on seeing it remotely. Bambu would be greatly served by doing something because this camera really makes the brand look bad.
My P1S sometimes gives me this message, but when I close it and press play it works after a sec.
Even when the camera works don’t get exited its viewing angle is somewhat stupid anyway. I think you are better off assuming it doesn’t have one. I do however agree with the expectation and i feel it is due to insufficient overhead with the CPU.
Overall i’m delighted with so much other aspects of the A1 i’ve totally dismissed the camera issue and installed a blink camera. Ok so whilst not perfect the blink is a better camera but it prints nothing
Honestly, this is how I’ve been operating since May. Sure the camera works now, but I just don’t have any use for it and kinda forgot it was even there. I haven’t even attempted to use it since my previous post in this thread. I’m far too concerned about a catastrophic print failure destroying the hotend to ever leave my printer unattended.
Because of this, I would get more use out of a cup holder on the A1 than I would a camera.
I wanted a real camera printed the blink mini holder and spent $39 now have no issues. Wish had had worked would have been nice. But watching something I could barely make out was frustrating.
